NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECT AKAP
The COVID-19 pandemic has created the largest disruption of education systems in
human history, affecting learners in different countries. Learners’ ability to learn at school is now
at risk, specifically those learners who are left behind even though COVID-19 is not yet present.
This is the most challenging for every teacher in this time of crisis.
That is why, the Department of Education, Division of Rizal come up with a project
called “Anak, Kumusta ang Pag-aaral?” (PROJECT AKAP), it aims to keep the students
connected in school and to boost the interest of the student in studying their lesson so that no
student will be left behind, no student felt that they are neglected by their teachers or by the
department during this time of pandemic.
The Cayabu Elementary teachers together with their school head implements the Project
AKAP immediately. But because of the location of the school, with no means of online
communication, the teachers need to do it house to house, just to assess and to know the reason
of those learners who are not able to pass their modules on the scheduled time and day. The
teachers also communicate to the parents or guardians of their learners if they can able to guide
their children to answer their modules, but unfortunately, teachers found out that they find it
difficult too, because of their educational attainment. And some of them are working, they don’t
have time to teach their children every day. This would be the big impact to the students’
academic performance.
Teachers conducted home visitation to address the needs of their learners who are
considered lagging behind. They assured the parents that they are willing to help for the
betterment of their children.
