Mechanics/Guidelines:

1. The Essay Writing Contest (Feature Writing for Junior HS, and Editorial Writing for
SeniorHS) is

open to public and private schools within the municipality of Monkayo, in two (2)
categories only, Junior High School and Senior High School students. Only one entry per
school. Each participating school per level is entitled to one coach only.

2. The contest proper shall be on September 02, 2019, 9:00 AM at the SB Session Hall.
3. All contestants shall submit the pre-registration form on or before August 28, 2019 with
the committee head secretariat, Ms. Juvilyn T. Pasignahin, Municipal Planning and
Development

Office, 2/F Unity Building, Poblacion, Monkayo, Compostela Valley.

4. The entry must be in English; minimum number of words is 250. No maximum number
of words

is required. Below 250 words is subject to disqualification.

5. The maximum time to write the piece is two (2) hours. And will be judged on the
following

criteria:

Relevance to the topic


Grammar and correct use of words Organization of ideas
Style, Neatness and Readability of piece Total

- 40% - 20% - 20% - 20%

6. Official entry number will be assigned to each contestant. Name and address of the contestant

should not be indicated on the paper which will be provided before the contest starts. Additional

sheets of paper can be requested from the Secretariat.

7. The contestants are required to keep silent while the contest is on-going.
8. Contestants are required to wear their school uniform and ID.
9. The winners of the tournament in every level will receive a Certificate of Recognition
with the

following cash prizes:

10. Thewinnersoftheeventineverylevelwillreceiveamedalwiththefollowingcashprizes:

   Champion
   First Runner-up
   Second Runner-up
- P 1,000.00 - P 750.00 - P 500.00

11. The coaches of the winners will receive a Certificate of Commendation.


12. All contestants and coaches will each receive a Certificate of Participation.
