Dutch lawyer, feminist, and politician Corry Tendeloo (3 September 1897 – 18 October 1956)
represented the Free-thinking Democratic League (VDB) in the House of Representatives from 1945 to
1946 before serving the Labour Party until her death in 1956. Tendeloo, a native of the Dutch East
Indies, studied law at the University of Utrecht, where she first met members of the women's rights
movement. In the national emergency parliament that was established in 1945 to rebuild the country
after World War II and organise elections, Tendeloo was chosen to represent the VDB as a member of
the House of Representatives. She contributed to the achievement of universal suffrage in 1948 for the
Dutch territories of Curaçao and Suriname. She introduced a motion to end the in 1955.
