GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS
For the SEARCH FOR IIP MR. and MS. PALARO 2022-2023

In connection with the authority issued in the conduct of the “SEARCH FOR MR. and
MS. PALARO 2022-2023” as part of annual celebration of 33RD Founding anniversary of
ISLAMIC INSTITUTE OF THE PHILIPPINES, on October 30, 2022 the following guidelines
and mechanics are hereby issued for information and guidelines of all concerned:
I. RATIONALE
The candidates will compete on the following categories;
1. Talent competition
2. Muslim Attire
3. Production Number
4. Sport Wear
5. School Uniform
6. Question and Answer.
II. CANDIDATES MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
The Search is open to all Male and Female Youth who meet the following minimum
requirements.
IIP Learner with good attendance in school.
Masculinity for boys
Must attend practice to avoid conflict
At least average communication skills in English, on top of local dialect.
III. GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION OF APPLICANT, CANDIDATE AND/OR TITLE
HOLDERS.
An applicant, candidates or title holder may be disqualified or dethroned for any of the following
reasons:
1. Failure to meet the minimum requirements and qualifications as determined by the organizers;
are subject to disqualification.
2. Excessive tardiness or absences as may be determined by organizers.
The organizers have the sole discretion to choose the official candidates, disqualify the
candidates or dethrone a title holder at any time in accordance with the provisions hereof. The
decision of the organizers/judges is final and shall not be the subject to appeal.
IV. PAGEANT MECHANICS:

Is based on a point system:

Best in Sports Wear 10% of score
Best in Sablay & Sawwal0% of score
Best in Batawi & LApih-10% of score
Best in Production Number- 10%
Best in Question and Answer-30% of score
TOTAL 100%
Each candidate will compete the following categories:
1. Presentation of candidates/Production number – candidates will present themselves and Team.
2. Talent Competition - every candidate will be given a maximum of two (2) minutes for their
talent presentation at the IIP Quadrangle. They are to be rated according to their Skills/talent
(50%), Mastery (20%), Creativity and uniqueness, (20%) Audience Impact (10%).
3. Sablay and Sawwal – The design must be 100% Native materials. They are to be rated
according to their Culture Relevance (50%), Beauty and appeal (20%), Suitability to the wearer
(20%), stage presence (10%).
4. Sablay and Lapih – Judges do not look for designer’s labels or a specific style. They look at
how well the attire fits the contestant’s personality and their on-stage presence. They are to be
rated according to their Sense of confidence (20%), Ability to reflective of his/her generation
(40%), Ability to naturally draw young people to his/her presence and charisma (20%),
Technique (walking and posture) (20%).
5. Sports Wear Competition - This area of competition allows the contestant to show her
dedication to physical fitness and body physique. The contestants will compete in a Sports wear
Competition of their own choice and should be worn in good and formal taste. They are to be
rated according to their Physical fitness and body physique (50%) Sense of confidence (20%)
Personality and stage presence (10%) Technique (walking and posture) (20%).
6. Batawi and Lapih - This is the elegance and grace portion of the competition. Keep in mind
that during the formal wear competition it is the wearer that is being judged and not the long
formal wear you are wearing. This is, however, a time for your stage presence to shine. Relax, be
yourself and let your true gorgeousness and beauty shine through. Let the judges and audience
see your self-confidence and poise and personality and let them shine beyond the footlights.
They are to be rated according to their Elegance (50%), Sense of confidence (20%),
Appropriateness of attire (10%), Technique (walking and posture) (20%).
7. Question and Answer – portion is most important aspect of competition, simply because it is
the only chance the judges can measure the ability of the candidates to answer questions in
concise and precise manner. They want to get to know the real you! Your question can include a
wide variety of topics such as world affair, local politics, your family, career goals, LGBTQ+
issues and environment surroundings and how you intend to achieve them and past question in
any international pageant question. They are to be rated according to their Wit (50%) confidence
(15%), Appropriateness and Relevance (20%), Clarity (20%).
