Kaspersky System Checker
User Guide
Beta version
Command line
Kaspersky System Checker can be started from the command line with the following parameters:
-flash
The application will extract itself to the same folder as the archive is located to keep updates on the
flash drive. This key is used by default.
-remote
The application will extract files and download updates to the system temp folder.
-expert
Expert mode makes Additional Info visible in the Reports window. (The info also can be activated by
pressing CTRL+R in the Reports window.)
The Kaspersky System Checker executable is a single file that will extract all necessary information, including
database updates, to the same folder (temp folder in remote mode).
After the app closes, all extracted files, program trace files, reports, and updates remain on the computer.
When the app is subsequently started on the same PC or flash drive, the files will not be extracted (exception –
remote mode).
Update function
The app attempts to update itself during any period of inactivity. If a user starts the app and runs scans, the
update process pauses and will resume during any period of inactivity while the program is operational. When
the update process starts, status information appears in the lower-right corner of the screen:
If databases are out of date, the tool will prompt the user to update the databases or download a new version
of the product.
After the release of a new version (not in this beta version), new versions will be automatically published on a
regular basis so users can always download the latest version of Kaspersky System Checker.

Technical Support Aspects
Trace and memory dump files
To resolve some of the problems with Kaspersky System Checker that you may encounter, Kaspersky Lab
Technical Support may require information about processes running on the computer and detailed reports on
the application's components operation. Such reports can be found in trace and memory dump files.
Trace and dump files are stored in the \ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\ folder.
The format of trace file names is as follows:
KSC_versionNumber_dateXX.XX_timeYY.YY_pid_traceType.log.
Trace and memory dump files can contain personal data obtained during operation of protection components.
The app can send files of these types to Technical Support after user’s confirmation. You can view the
contents of a trace file by opening it in a text editor (such as Notepad).
To keep the program and databases up to date the following information can be sent to Kaspersky Lab
automatically: application identifier, license identifier, application installation identifier, update session status
identifier, full application version.
Information about third-party code
Information about third-party code is contained in the legal_notices.txt file, which is located in the application
installation folder.
