Battery charging
When charging, make sure to use the original charger and USB data
cable.
When the power is low, you will be notified by a flashing battery icon;
when the power is decreased further, there will be a tone and messages stating
that the power is running low; when the power is further reduced,
the product once again will issue a prompt tone, and subsequently shut down.

3 .Getting started
Install battery / remove battery
Please turn off the device before removing the battery, loosen the LOCK
button, remove the battery cover and then pull out the battery.
Align the battery metal contacts (positioned on the top left of the battery)
to the metal contact points on the left side of the battery compartment. Slide
the battery in top first, then push down to secure.

Install / remove Micro SD card
Install Micro SD card: remove the terminal cover and the battery, insert the
Micro SD card to the card slot with its metal contact piece side down.
Remove the Micro SD card: remove the terminal cover and the
battery, take the Micro SD card out.

Install / remove RUIM card

4 . Basic Functions
Power on and power off
When the device is off, press and hold the on/off button to turn it on.
When the device is on, briefly press the on/off button to lock the screen.
When you press and hold the button you'll see a pop-up menu, select OFF
and click the confirm button to switch it off.

Input number Directly
In Standby mode, click Numbers to input numbers on the
number keypad.
If the input character is wrong, click the delete button
to delete it.
To end a phone call or to cancel dialing, click the end call
icon or end call button.

Activate GPS Function
1. First enter the setup menu interface, and then enter the location
information and access, check "Allow access to my location," Turn on the
GPS satellite positioning.
2. When signal is bad, please adjust the direction of the device in
order to obtain better satelite reception. Please take note that buildings,
trees, etc. will block the GPS satelite signal.

Activate NFC function
First enter the setup menu interface. Go to "more", click NFC and
open the function.
Activate barcode scanner function
1. First enter the setup menu interface, and then enter the scan settings.
Select the Enable Scan button.
2. Return to the Home screen, press scan button to scan a barcode.

5 . Making a phone call
In Standby mode, click the communication icon of the
interface, then click the dial icon to enter the dial mode (alternatively, directly click
the answer button to enter the dial mode).
Click the address book to search for a
contact in the address book, you can also
directly input the number you need to
dial in the dial interface. Then click the
dial icon to dial the phone number.

6 . Transfer documents to this device
The N5 allows you to take all kinds of documents with you. You can
browse through pictures or watch instruction videos. In order to do so, follow
the following steps:
1. Use the attached USB cable to connect the product to the computer
2. Drop-down status bar when USB is connected, click to open the USB
storage device, and then click OK.
3. The computer will recognize this product as a removable disk. Browse to the
removable disk, and then open the disk.
4. Copy the document to the memory cards.

7 . Lock the device
When locking the product, the interface will be closed, and
the device will enter sleep mode. This avoids triggering the
interface accidentally, but can also save battery power. When
not using the device, press the power button, the device may
still be locked. If having set a lock screen time, the device will

Unlocking the device

8 Warning
Electronic Devices
● Switch the device off when it is near running electronic instruments.
Otherwise it may cause interference.
● Devices which may experience interference: Hearing-aid, Pacemaker,
Fire-annunciator, Automatic-gate and other automatic devices.
● Users who use medical-aids should confirm the affection of radio
waves with the vendor
● Pacemaker vendors suggest that a pacemaker should be 15cm away
from the device to avoid being interfered. The user should not put
the device near their chest and should answer a call on the opposite
side of the pacemaker to avoid interference.
Medical Sites
● Please do not take the device into a surgery
room, ICU, CCU.
● Follow the rules and regulations of the medical
site.
● Be careful with ring and vibration settings of the
device.
Dangerous Areas
To avoid interfering with blasting operations, turn off the device and do not
charge, remove or install the battery when in a blasting area or in another area
with signs indicating that two-way radios should be turned off. Avoid:
● Fueling station
● Fuel tank (Below deck on boats);
● Fuel and chemical transfer or
storage facilities;
● Areas where the air contains chemicals or particles such as grain,
dust, or metal powder
● The areas with signs indicating easy-blasting;
● Any areas with signs indicating that two-way radios should be turned
off;
● Any other area where you would normally be advised to turn off
your engine;
Driving Safety & Flight Safety
● Using the device while driving (or operating the phone without a hands-
free phone) is prohibited in some jurisdictions.
● Place the device in the holders when driving to prevent it from being
unsecured in the event of a crash.
● Get to know your device and features, such as hands-free, earphone,
Bluetooth, speed-dial, re-dial, and emergency speed dial;
● Please do not position the device on top of the airbags or in the area
where airbags expand to, otherwise it may hurt the passengers in vehicle;
● Turn off the device before boarding any aircraft. To prevent possible
interference with aircraft systems, the U.S. Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) regulations require you to have permission from a
crew member to use your device while the plane is on the ground.
To prevent any risk of interference, FCC regulations prohibit using your
phone while the plane is in the air;
Storage Environment
● Keep away from magnetic devices (such as floppy disk) which
may be susceptible interference. The device may erase the files to
stored;
● Do not put the device, battery and charger into strong magnetic field
such as a microwave oven and induction cooker, otherwise it may cause
short or fire;
● Do not store the device, battery and charger in high temperature areas
or low temperature areas for long periods of time;
● Please try to keep the ambient temperature from 0°C to 45°C when
charging.
● To store the batteries, keep the ambient temperature
between -20°C and 60°C.

● Avoid damaging your ears, please do not put the device near
ears when using spe
● Keep your eyes away from the flash light while using it;
● Do not use the device during a thunderstorm. The device may
malfunction and your risk of electric shock is increased;
● Keep the device away from TV, radiogram or PC;
● Use only Newland Europe B.V. approved batteries, chargers and
other accessories;
● Follow the law and protect individual privacy;
Maintenance
● Stop charging and turn off the device before clearing to avoid a short
and getting an electric shock;
● Do not use powder material or chemical material such as alcohol and
benzene to clear the device and charger, otherwise it may cause damage
and fire;
● Do not scrape and paint the surface of the device, residue may cause an
allergic reaction. If you experience an allergic reaction, contact a doctor
immediately;
● Do not disassemble and repair the device by yourself;
● If the device does not work normally, please ask the Service Center for
help;
