1.3.1 Parts manufactured from original drawings (and therefore the copyright of IVECO), even if produ
ced with the supplier's technology, and parts manufactured from the supplier's original drawings
(and therefore the copyright of supplier) that have been developed with a contribution from IVECO
either in the form of financial support or the setting up of tests of any kind; such parts must be stam
ped with the trademark (see Enclosure 1) except for cases specified as unusual (see parag
raph 1.2).
The type of trademark used must be indicated on drawing; no other trademark is acceptable on such
parts except for unusual cases outlined in paragraph 1.2.
1.3.2 Identification of IVECO products by symbol (type 4 of Enclosure 2) is acceptable in the cases
described in the following paragraphs 1.3.2.1 and 1.3.2.2.
1.3.2.1 When Engineering deems that the dimensions of the parts to be marked do not permit use of
trademark.
1.3.2.2 When, for any reason, Engineering deems that the trademark is not to be shown but a sym
bol indicating the points, originality is still needed; methods of identification are given in Enclosure
2.
1.3.3 It permitted the identification of the ASTRA product with the symbol (type 1 Annex 5) in the cases
referred in paragraphs 1.3.3.1 and 1.3.3.2 below.
1.3.3.1 When Engineering considers that the dimensions of the parts to be marked not make possible the
adoption the ASTRA brand..
1.3.3.2 When Engineering deemed appropriate for different issues not highlight the ASTRA brand while
maintaining a symbol of recognition of the originality of the piece; the modalities of identification are
in Annex 5.
1.4 Parts manufactured from the supplier's original drawing, (and therefore the copyright of supplier)
that have passed tests required in specification without any modification by supplier or any interven
tion by IVECO, maintain their original marking. Should the part be modified by IVECO, with respect
to the original Supplier's drawing, this falls within the category described in paragraph 1.3.1.
1.5 If parts are copyright of supplier, the trademark of supplier, if applied, must have a height “H” less
than 70% of height “A” of or ASTRA mark, that is H < 0.7 A (L); however height “H” is accep
table as: 0.7 A <H <A when A = 5 mm. Furthermore, the supplier's trademark must not be applied
near the or ASTRA trademark to distinguish the two trademarks.
1.6 A space outlined by a rectangle of adequate dimensions must be connected with the or
ASTRA trademark, for supplier's identification code.
This code may be omitted for sole manufacturers of IVECO company, except cases specified in
paragraph 1.3.
Codes that identify suppliers are managed by IVECO Purchasing.
1.7 Exceptionally, the marking described in this standard may be omitted for parts supplied by manufac
turers well known in Italy and overseas, whose trademark emphasises the products image and
quality. These exceptions will be examined in each instance by the concerned Engineering depart
ment.

2 VALIDITY
The requirements of this standard have immediate operational validity
3 MARKING METHODS
For marking of finished parts (see paragraph 3.1) and marking of rough cast or drop-forged parts
(see paragraph 3.2). For shape and dimensions of trademarks see Enclosure 1. Annex 1 for IVECO
brand and Annex 4 fro ASTRA brand..
(L) For values of A see Annex 1 for IVECO brand and Annex 4 fo ASTRA brand.
3.1 Marking finished parts
This is carried out by stamping, punching, etc. according to the directions given in the following para
graphs. Marking must be neat and readable and must not cause oxidation on marked surface..
3.1.1 Indicated marking (Type 1)
This is carried out:
3.1.1.1 By chemical action (Only in cases where other marking methods cannot be used)
This may be carried out on metal parts having ground surfaces or surface textatures a degree smoo
ther than ground surfaces.
Marking must be carried out on previously de-greased and cleaned surfaces, by a rubber stamp
moistened in an acid etching solution stabilized in a base suitable for the material which is to be mar
ked.
The marked surface must then be protected from increased corrosion, by acid, by a thin film of oil.
The stamp must be constructed from synthetic rubber resistant to acids (hardness Shore A 48 +
52) and must be regularly cleaned with a suitable detergent.
3.1.1.2 With ink.
Applied to leather, synthetic leather, cloth, etc.
Suitable indelible ink must be used.
As regards method of use, the method above for chemical etching is valid.
3.1.2 Punched marking
Obtained by using punches and any other suitable equipment necessary.
Marking engraved on machined surfaces must not cause swelling of finished parts.
Prior agreement of IVECO Engineering and IVECO Technologies are required for use of this mar
king method.

3.1.3 “SAND BLASTING” marking
This marking method, obtained using sand blasting, may be employed on ground surfaces or surfa
ces with a surface texture a degree smoother, whenever the risk of acid corrosion must be absolutely
avoided.
3.2 Marking on rough cast or drop-forged parts
Marking on rough cast or drop-forged parts is obtained directly by casting or drop-forging as required
on drawing.
Usually marking is required in relief (type 2); however if requirements make it necessary or pre
ferable, it may be requested sunken (type 3).
3.3 ND-YAG LASER marking on finished parts (metallic materials, alloys and plastic materials).
Laser marking is:
- Inalterable
- Wearproof, with suitable marking depths
- Indelible, cannot be counterfeited
- Accurate, of high quality and does not require successive treatments
- Ideal for both small and large production volumes.
If specified on drawing, marking on parts with/without heat treatment or painted surfaces can be ob
tained through ND-YAG LASER.
This type of marking can also be performed on lubricated surface (oil, etc.) and uneven surface.
3.3.1 ND-YAG laser marking check
Visual inspection (clear contrast and visible marking outline).
4 Position marking of IVECO brand and or ASTRA brand
For bodywork or cab interior parts, excluding glasses and lights, the trademark must not be visible
from the outside on assembled units but, if possible, can be verified after assembly.
Marking must be in a position which does not compromise the technical or operating properties of
the product.
Furthermore, marking may be required on a flat surface and in a position so as to be easily visible
when the part is dismantled for repair.
5 INDICATION ON DRAWING
Marking in paragraph 1.1 and, if thought necessary, the marking method, according to Annex 1, 2,
4,e 5, must be indicated on part drawing.
