VERB TO BE

“Verbs are the action words

and nouns are the lazy ones”

Uses of verb to Be
* Permanent or temporary qualities or states: Age:
He’s very rich. I am seventeen years old
My father is old now. How old is she?
The food is so good in Italy.
* Nationality and group identity Relationships:
Is she Irish or English? He is my first cousin.
I  am  an Arsenal fan. They are my best friends.
* Jobs and professions: use “a” with singular Are you her sister?

He’s a firefighter. To refer to where places and things are situated:
Both of my brothers are policemen. Her house is on the edge of the lake.
My grandmother is a nurse. The shops are at the end of the street.

GRAMMAR STRUCTURE
Be is an irregular verb with several forms in present tense: AM -IS- ARE
