CLASS – 4 COMPUTER SCIENCE WORKSHEET (CHAPTER 1)
CHAPTER : MEMORY AND STORAGE DEVICES
SYNOPSIS:
The words or numbers which have no meaning by themselves is called data. It is the
input given to the computer. What data tells us or the output obtained from a
computer is the information.
Computer memory is of two types- Primary memory and Secondary memory.
Primary memory is of two types- Read Only Memory (ROM) and Random Access
Memory (RAM).
Primary memory stores the programs which are directly run by the CPU. Secondary
memory stores data permanently until it is deleted or overwritten.
0 and 1 are the binary digits or bits. A bit is the smallest unit of computer memory.
Hard disks, CDs, DVDs, USB flash drives, memory cards are some of the secondary
storage devices.
Cloud is an online storage for data and can be accessed anytime. This type of internet
service is called cloud computing.
