Course Information: Objective
▪ Course Objective:
• This course is for the UG/ PG/ PhD students of DCEE. Good understanding of
Mathematics, Numerical, Engineering Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, and
Structural Analysis courses are required
• Outcome from the course
✓ Understand the stress-strain response of deformable body under complex loading condition
✓ Understand the concept of developing material model or constitutive relations
✓ Learn the procedure to analyze elastic body and solved problem of elasticity, stability, and
elastodynamics
✓ Learn and apply general mathematical and computer skills to solve basic mechanics
problems
✓ Development of codes for analysis of simple problems – use of MATLAB, VB etc.
✓ Development of models for analysis of simple problems – use of ABAQUS, SAP2000 etc.
✓ Increase understanding of Mathematics and Numerical Methods
✓ Understand to read, write, and present research article

▪ Minimum Attendance Policy:
• Attendance less than 75% will lead to debarring from taking exams. Total
number of class will be around 45.
▪ Copying and Plagiarism:
• Copying of assignments is not allowed and will attract disciplinary action such
as debarring from exam or even expulsion!
