GUIDELINES FOR BOOK COVERING AND LABELLING
As we prepare for the upcoming Academic Year 2023/2024, we would like to outline some
"Essential Guidelines regarding Book Covering for Students." Your cooperation in adhering to
these instructions will greatly assist us in maintaining uniformity.
1. PRIMARY GRADES - GRADES 1 TO 5:
Book Covering is not necessary : Kindly note that we are continuing a longstanding practice of
NOT using book covers to protect Text, Exercise, and Writing books. This approach is consistent
with our previous years' practices. The rationale behind this decision is to instill a sense of
responsibility and care in our students. By refraining from using book covers, we encourage them
to handle their educational materials thoughtfully and promote eco-friendliness.
NHM Books and Science Activity Book: For NHM books (including Math check-ups) and the
Science Activity Book in Primary Grades, we recommend using cream - colored (preferably)
cardboard file covers. Please mention the Book name, Student name, Grade and Class on the file
cover for easy identification. These are recommended due to the susceptibility of pages tearing
easily. It's advised to trim the file cover to fit the size of the NHM book. Avoid pasting the first and
last pages onto the file cover. (Please refer to the image attached below)
Note: Please note that the Text Books which come with rigid covers, may not require additional
cardboard files.
Book Labelling Instructions:
To ensure precise Book Labelling please follow the points given below.
Name Tags: Apply a font size of 22 for the 'name tags'. Also, use font size 32 for 'subject tags'.
These tags must be placed on the bottom right-hand corner of each book.
Text Book & Writing Book Example: Refer to the image provided below for an illustration of how
name tags and subject tags should be positioned on Text Books and Writing Books.
Exercise Books with Pre-Printed School Name: If Exercise Books already have the School name
pre-printed on them, it is unnecessary to include the School name on the tag.
Exercise Books without School Logo: However, if the Exercise Book lacks the School logo, please
include the School Name on the name tag.
Name on Tags: The name on the tags should match the Name used in Official School
documents, including only the First Name and Surname.
Subject Indication: Kindly indicate the subject on the top of each writing book. Consult the book
list for subject information.
2. SECONDARY GRADES - GRADES 6 TO 12:
Book covering is not necessary; however, ensure each book has a name tag indicating name,
grade and class.
