Peer Resistance Skills

DIsCussed below are peer resistance skills. These will help you realize why avoiding
temptations to try cigarette and alcoholic drinks is a good move for your health.
1.
Identifying right choices. Identifying right choices may be hard but learning
how to make the right choices will keep you on the right track. How do you
end up choosing the right choice? First, ask yourself the question. In this

case, is smoking or drinking good for your health? Next, list down possible
answers for the question. Try to go over your choices several times, canceling
those that are negative. From among the good choices, choose the best that
will benefit you in the end. Think about what is moral and ethical for
you.
Doing so will help you stay on the right path and achieve your goals and
dreams.
2. Value yourself. Valuing yourself you have good self-esteem or
means
self-worth. It also means that you care so much for your life and that
you will
never think or do something which will harm
your body and soul. The skill of
valuing goes hand-in-hand with identifying the right choices. You cannot make
good choices if you do not value yourself for it is in valuing that you deserve
to live a good life.

3. Assert yourself. Assertive means that your views, opinions, and actions are
recognized. Assertiveness is different from aggressiveness as the latter
implies hostility andangry disposition. Assertiveness applied to
resisting
smoking and drinking like saying no in a polite manner and yet
you really do not want to try it. Assertive behavior includes
stressing that
making eye contact, and stating your position in a clear
standing straight,
manner, and making
no excuses for the given concern or issue.

catch the attention of the younger generation for it to be effective.
