RAPID PLANNING
INNER CIRCLE TRAINING | Rapid Planning Method® Session 5
1. Continue to practice the mechanics of the RPM™ system in order to make consistent progress mastering
RPM to help you create the life of your dreams!
2. Learn and implement a simple habit of planning — The Weekly Planning Process — so you make consistent
progress on what matters most to you. This is the key to creating and enjoying life on your terms instead of
living in reaction, often based on the demands of others.
3. Continue to put the building blocks of RPM planning together so you experience the accomplishment and
joy of mastering a system that will change the quality of your life forever.
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
- ELEANOR ROOSEVELT
The Triad is the tipping point because it becomes a filter for what emotions
you experience.
In the previous session, you created your Ultimate Triad — you in your best state, being your best self. Re-
capture some of the elements of your Ultimate Triad below as a powerful reinforcement of how to put yourself in
a phenomenal state each day:
PHYSIOLOGY: What do you do with your body? How do you stand? What is your posture like? What facial
expressions do you engage? How do you breathe when you’re in this positive, empowered state?
FOCUS/BELIEFS: What do you focus on in this state? What positive beliefs do you have about yourself, others,
or the situation?
LANGUAGE: What words do you say to yourself or others when you’re in this empowered state? What phrases
do you consistently use? What questions do you ask yourself? What are some words you would use to describe
yourself in this state?
1. What is the Result that I’m committed to achieve? What do I really want?
2. What is my Purpose? Why do I really want to do this? What will it give me? How will it make me feel?
3. What specific actions do I need to take to achieve this Result? How can I best achieve it now? What is my
Massive Action Plan (MAP)?
Once you ask and answer the 3 Questions of RPM, use the 5 Quick Tips below to complete your RPM Plan.
1. PRIORITIZE: Number each action item based on priority in the column labeled “P” (for Priority). Some people do
this based on importance while others prioritize based on the order in which the actions need to be completed. Use
whatever method works for you.
2. ASTERISK THE MUSTS (*): Put an asterisk next to the most important action items – the ones that are the most
critical to achieving your overall Result. (Remember the 80/20 rule: 80% of the value often comes from 20% of the
actions. You may NOT need to do
all your actions to get your Result!)
3. DURATION: Estimate how long you think each action item might take and enter the duration in the column labeled
“D.” Then add up the Total Time to complete the entire RPM block as well as the Total Must Time (the time it would
take you if you only completed the action items that you asterisked as “musts”). This helps you stay “real” about your
time.
4. LEVERAGE: Could anyone else complete any of the action items for you or with your help? Write their initials next to the
action item they can help with in your Massive Action Plan in the column labeled “L.”
5. CIRCLE YOUR RESULT & DRAW A BOX AROUND YOUR RPM BLOCK: This final step will help you visually organize
this RPM block on the page. (Remember: RPM is a visual chunking system.)
Step 1: Capture
This is where you first brain-dump all your ideas, wants, needs, tasks, calls and other
communications down on paper. When you’ve completed your Capture list, you’ll review your list
and start to “chunk” similar items into specific Results that they relate to. When you’re done, you’ll
discover that a long list of items in your Capture list, turns into just a few, meaningful Results.
3. What’s my Massive Action Plan? What actions must I take to achieve it?
Your answers will help you create RPM Blocks for your day, week or Project.
In this step you follow through and execute, and measure your progress toward your Results.
Step 5: Celebrate!
Here’s where you reflect on your day, week or Project, acknowledge your achievements and savor
the magic moments you experienced. You also note what didn’t happen and how you might improve
so these ideas can move over into your next RPM Plan.
Step 1: Capture
The first step in the RPM process is to quickly Capture ideas, wants, tasks, appointments, phone calls and other
communications, etc. In this step Carlos is simply getting all the ideas out of his head and onto paper quickly.
(This is not his actual plan!) The second half of the Capture step is to immediately begin chunking. This requires
grouping together action items that have a natural relationship to each other and relate to the same Result.

1. What is the most important Result I must achieve in order for this day to be both successful and fulfilling?
2. Why do I want to do this? What is my Purpose? What will it give me? How will it make me feel to produce this
Result?
3. What specific actions must I take that are necessary to achieve this Result? What’s the very first thing I must
do in order to achieve this? What is my Massive Action Plan?
By asking these 3 questions in order, Carlos came up with this RPM Block:
Once Carlos completed his first RPM Block, he reviewed his Capture list again to see what items were related to
another Result that’s important to him. Then, he asked himself, “What’s another important Result I must achieve
in order for this day to be successful and fulfilling?” He continued this process until he completed all the RPM
Blocks for his day.

Throughout the day, Carlos checks in with his plan to make sure he’s on track to achieve his Result. He
notices which actions he’s completed and which need to wait for another day – or may not be needed
at all!
Then, at the end of each day, Carlos will go through every action inside his RPM™ Blocks and check
off the items that are done, carry over items that aren’t done to the next day and cross off any that you
decide are not necessary to achieve your outcome. Use the following key to help you annotate each
action in your RPM Plan so nothing gets lost:

Step 5: Celebrate!
At the end of the day, Carlos takes a few minutes to capture the days’s wins and Magic Moments.

Then, he begins his RPM Weekly Plan the same way he does his RPM Daily Plans – with Step 1 of the 5 Master
Steps of RPM Planning (Capture). He brain-dumps everything around what he wants to achieve and experience
in the coming week. He also brainstorms who he needs to communicate with to help get his Results.
REMINDER
Use the steps in the Weekly Planning Process as you plan your week. This will help you connect to your Life
Plan so you can make time for what really matters most.
Step 1: Capture
Carlos also considers the Roles he’ll embody this week and does a Capture round related to them as well.
Optional: When Capturing what you want to accomplish this week, it can help to create fun, empowering Roles that will excite you to take action
toward your Results. Who are you focused on being this week? An athlete, an Adonis, a mama bear, a soul mate, a wealth creator, a community
contributor, a visionary leader, a builder of dreams? What Actions, Outcomes or Results might you want in these areas?!
First he looks at his Capture items and sees which relate to the same Result he is going for, so he can “chunk”
them together.
Each one starts with a central Result (“What do I want?”) which he then gives a Purpose (“Why do I want it?”) and
finally lists his Massive Action Plan (“How can I best achieve it now?”) that will include related Capture items and
any other ideas that come up.

fulfilling?” to create addition RPM Blocks to complete his RPM Weekly Plan.
