Photoshop Chrome Text Guide
Photoshop Chrome Text Guide
This tutorial will show you a great way to create chrome text. All of the effects are
completely customizable by you so you can get it to look exactly how you want.
Feel free to add your comments if you have any questions, or ideas for improving this
technique.
Step 1: Preparation
Create a new image or open an image you want to add your text to. Download the effects
used in this tutorial.
1. For Step 2: Install the style by dragging the .asl file into the Photoshop
workspace, or copy it into a folder of your choice, then load it from the fly out
menu in the Photoshop styles palette.
2. For Step 3: Apply the curve by extracting the .acv file, and then loading it by
clicking the load button in the curves dialog.
3. For Step 4: Apply the gradient map by extracting the .grd file, and loading it by
clicking the load button in the gradient dialog.
Set the foreground color to 50% gray, and then use the text tool to type your text. Apply
the style to the text by finding the newly installed style in the bottom of the style palette,
and clicking it.
Step 3: Curves
Select layer > new adjustment layer > curves from the menu. Apply the curve included in
the zip file above, or you can create a custom curve similar to the one shown below if you
prefer.
Set the blend mode to overlay, and the opacity to around 60%.
Select layer > new adjustment layer > gradient map from the menu. Apply the gradient
map included in the zip file above, or edit the gradient manually by clicking the gradient
drop down, and selecting the chrome gradient map preset.
Double click each of the color stop nodes that have color, and set the saturation to 0.
Set the blend mode to overlay, and the opacity to around 60%.
Select both of the newly created adjustment layers in the layers palette, and press
ctrl/command + g on the keyboard to group them, then ctrl/command + click the text
thumbnail to create a selection around the text. Choose select > feather from the menu,
and set the radius to around 5, click OK, then click the add layer mask button at the
bottom of the layers palette.
You can now customize the chrome effect by adjusting either of the adjustment layers, or
making changes to the blending modes of the adjustment layers, or adjusting the text
style. One example is creating a colored chrome or gold effect by simply double clicking
the layer effects icon on the text layer, and then set the color of the inner glow, the color
overlay, and the stroke sections to a golden color, or any other color you like.
Be sure to check the reflections tutorial if you want to create the reflection as seen in the
result of this tutorial.
Today we will learn how to make a text effect which looks like crumbled gold. The
tutorial is very easy if you have the needed components.
Create a new layer - 450*300 px, and fill it with the following colour: #3c0101. Of
course you may choose any other hue.
Select the typing tool (or press "T") and type any word in the middle of the canvas. The
choice of font here is very essential, do not choose any thin fonts or fonts with many
twirls, it wont look good for this particular effect. We need a very bold font with slight
crumbly effect, such as "Defused", which is what we used here, download it free at
dafont.com It doesn't matter what colour you chose for typing as we will overlay it by a
pattern.
Go to Layer >> Layer Styles >> Blending Options and apply carefully these settings.
For Bevel and emboss: Highlight mode colour: #e5d266. Shadow mode: #5a3015.
The texture for Bevel effect is called "RustTileBump" and is pre installed in many
versions of PS already. If you don't have it, it wont be a problem to download it from any
PhotoShop free resources website.
If you miss any of these steps, you will not get the desired result. So far your result
should look same as the image example below:
Now go to Layer >> Flatten Image and flatten both layers. Now you no longer have
multiple layers and can work with one canvas.
Go to Filter >> Render >> Lightening Effectsand set these settings for "Omni" light
type.
If you followed all the steps correctly, you should receive same image as we shown on
the example in the beginning, only with a different text, of course. Enjoy creating!
Start by typing the text on a black background. Duplicate the layer and hide it.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings
shown.
From layer palette reduce the fill value for the text layer to 0.
From layer menu select layer style>>create layers. Select and merge resulting layers.
Press Ctrl+U to open hue/saturation window. Apply settings as shown.
Unhide the original text layer that we kept hidden in the first step.
You need toa pply some layer styles (right click text layer and choose blending options):
Stroke:
Outer Glow
This is the gradient:
Right click text layer and choose Rasterize Type.
Aline the layer just below your original text layer like this:
Step 3
Using the Rectangular Marquee Tool select the reflected part of the text and apply with
Ripple Size 1 and Ripple Magnitude 4.
Now select the around the edge of the Ocean Ripple Effect and use Filter --> Blur -->
Surface Blur with these settings:
You're done..! Of course you might want to choose a different color or a higher value for
Ripple Magnitude in Ocean Ripple.
Text on Turf
1) Lets get the ball rolling by starting a new document and typing some text out, (notes:
personally I like more chunky letters but any font will do).
2) Firstly we must flatten our document to allow us the ability of running more
commands, we do this by clicking 'Layer' > 'Flatten Image'. Following that we must
transform our image into black and white, this is done by: 'Image' > 'Adjustments' > 'Auto
Levels'.
Now pull up the "Channels" box, this is done by clicking 'Windows' > 'Channels' - notice
how theres 4 channels within the box? well anywho we must duplicate the "Blue"
channel, to do this left click on that channel and select 'Duplicate Channel', lastly like you
see in the image below, deselect the eyelash from all the channels except our newly
created duplicate.
3) Short step this time, 'Image' > 'Adjustments' > 'Invert', (Hotkey: Ctrl+I).
4) Get back to the "Channel" box and select 'RGB', (Note: this will turn your background
into white). Click 'Edit' > 'Fill' and select 'Use: White' then press ok.
Select the "Magic Wand Tool" and change its 'Tolerance' setting to 1, now go back to the
'Channels' and press on our duplicated "Blue Copy" - this will turn our image back into
the inverted black and white, anywho using the magic wand tool click anywhere on the
white font.
Now to get our turf look, 'Filter' > 'Noise' > 'Add Noise' and change the settings within
the dialog to our sample:
7) Duplicate "Layer 1" and hotkey in 'Ctrl+U' which brings the Hue/Saturation dialog up!
Pick a color you'd like the text to have as a dropdown, in this case I've used:
Now within the Layers box move "Layer 1 copy" (the duplicate) just above the green
background - so second from bottom, once complete go to 'Filter' > 'Other' > 'Offset' and
change the following settings to:
9) Its finally time to merge "Layers 1", "Layer 1 copy" (the duplicate) and "Layer 2", we
can do this by selecting the top layer and hotkeying 'Ctrl+E' twice! this is the shortcut to
'Layer' > 'Merge Down', your layers dialog should now bee looking like:
10) Now time to border around our text, this can be done by clicking 'Edit' > 'Stroke' and
changing the settings to:
• Width: 3px
• Color: Black
• Location: Inside
• Mode: Normal
• Opacity: 100%
• Do not check the "Preserve Transparency" box
Finally, and i mean finally... we can blend this into our 'turf', do this by clicking 'Filter' >
'Noise' > 'Add Noise' and selecting the following settings:
11) Heres the finished product, hope you like it?
In this tutorial you’ll learn how to make your own myspace thank you graphic. These can
be seen all over myspace, but many are low quality.
We’ll start with the background.
I have a dark pink gradient for my background. The colors I used were #c01a60 and
#7a0c2d.
Next, for the background I added a dark gradient 3 pixels from all edges.
Next I added a light gradient half the height of the document at the top. I lowered the
opacity to 60% and changed the layer mode to Soft Light.
Lastly I added 2 gradients in the background and lowered the opacity’s to about 20% and
changed the layer modes to Overlay.
Next write out your text. I used the font Cheri and the color #9e1347.
You can download the font from DaFont.com.
Now apply the following layer styles to your text layer (Right-Click text layer, click
blending options…):
Inner Shadow
Gradient Overlay
Stroke
Now your text should be looking much better, similar to mine:
Finally for the text let’s add some highlight to the bottom of the text.
To do this, hold Ctrl then Click the layer thumbnail (text layer.)
Now contract the selection by 2 pixels, (Select > Modify > Contract) at the top of
Photoshop in the menus.
On a new layer draw a White to Transparent gradient from the bottom to the middle like
so:
I changed my layer opacity to 90% and changed the layer mode to Overlay.
Thanks for reading, if you need anything you can download the PSD from here.
Step 1.
Start off by making a new photoshop document with dimension of 470w x 230h. On a new layer
make large grey rectangle and then apply Craquelure (filter > texture > craquelure). Choose 81 for
crack spacing, 2 for crack depth, and 8 for crack brightness. Use add noise (filter > noise > add
noise), enter 3.5% and gaussian.
Step 2.
Next use dry brush (filter > artistic > dry brush) setting brush size to 7, brush detail to 0 and texture
to 1. Then go to Dirty Text Photoshop Tutorial Part 2
Step 3.
This is the 2nd part of the Photoshop tutorial to create a dirty text effect. Next, create some Arial
Black text with a size of around 100 pt, and then make a selection out of it. Use the selection to cut
(layer via cut) textured layer we've been creating. Delete the layer containing outer area of the
texture so that there's now only a text shaped version of it. Make a new layer and choose a chalk
brush with a size of about 60. Start to use the brush along the bottom of the text, as shown in image
c).
Step 5.
Duplicate the chalk layer a few times placing it over different poisitons of the text, then go to Dirty
Text Photoshop Tutorial Part 3
Step
6.
This is the 3rd part of this Photoshop tutorial to create dirty text. On a new layer, make a
selection out of the text and then fill it with black. Feather (selection > feather) and contract
(select > modify > contract) the selection by 4 pixels, and delete the contents of the selection.
Change the opacity of the layer to 60%, leaving with something like in image c).
Step 7.
Next, make anotehr selection of the text and then fill it with grey on a new layer. Contract the
selection by 4 and then delete the contents of it, leaving you with a thick grey border..
Step 9.
Nudge the border layer over to the right a bit and then you're finished. Dirty text created in
Photoshop!
Layered Texts

Description:Here you will learn how to create multi layered text effect which you can
apply to both texts and other layers. A Great effect for logos, and signage.
Drop Shadow

Bevel and Emboss
Gradient Overlay
Inner Shadow
Bevel and Emboss
Gradient Overlay

Step 1.
First of all make a new photoshop document with a grey background, and then create some large
thick white text, using something like Arial Black 150pt. Make a selection of the text and then, on
a new layer, fill it with dark grey. Feather (select > feather) and contract (selection > modify >
contract) the selection by 7 pixels, and then delete the selected part. You should now have some
shaded text. Zoom in to 200% magnication and then create a black oval on a new layer.
a) b) c) d)
Step 2.
Using the arrow keys, move the selection up about 4 pixels and then delete the selected area. You
should now have a curved black line. Make a selection of the curved line, feather and contract it by
1 pixel and then fill it with white. You should now have a shaded line, as shown in image a).
Duplicate the layer and then go to Spring Text Photoshop Tutorial Part 2
a) b)
Step 3.
This is the 2nd part of the Photoshop tutorial to a spring text effect. Next flip the duplicate curved
line vertically (edit > transform > flip vertically) and then reduce its opacit to 70%. Merge the 2
layers together, and then place and rotate (edit > transform > rotate) it as shown in image b). Make a
duplicate of it and then rotate it by 30 degrees (image c)
a) b) c)
Step 4.
Make a copy of the 2nd one and the rotate that also by 30 degrees. Merge the 3 layers together and
then duplicate it (image b). Use the transform tool to rotate it into position, like in image c, and then
merge the layers together. You should now have around 1/4 of the letter covered in sping coil.
a) b) c)
Step 5.
Duplicate the 1st quarter and then rotate it by 90 degrees (image a). Make another copy for the 3rd
and 4th quarter, rotating the latter so that there's a gap between the ends.
a) b) c)
Step 6.
So, hopefully you will have now created some spring text with this Photoshop tutorial! :)
Start out by creating a blank document, size depends on the size of your text, I made it
300*200px. Type your text, preferably in a bold font.
Step 2
Click your text layer's icon while holding down shift to select it.
Set Opacity too 100 percent and Angle Jitter to 100 percent too:
pick any two colors for your foreground and background color, it doesn't matter as we are
going to change it anyways.
Step 3
Now hit CTRL-D to deselect.. zoom into your image and start drawing on the edges of
your text. You should reduce the brushs' diameter for this.
Step 4
There are fonts out there that pretend to look like chalkboard writing, but when it comes
down to it, they just don't. In this Photoshop tutorial you'll learn how to create a realistic
looking chalkboard text effect that's simple to do. Off we go...
Step 1: Get yourself a nice chalkboard image.where your text (or image) will go. I've
picked the one below. The higher resolution the better, especially if you're printing. Shoot
for 300 DPI in that case to get a photo-realistic chalk effect.
Step 2: Download the free font Kindergarten, or use some other scripty looking font that
you have gathering dust. Remember, to install a font on a Windows machine, you can just
go to your control panel, select "Fonts", and drag the font into the folder.
Step 3: With your chalkboard image open, select the text tool ("T"). Make sure the font
you want is selected and type your text in a very slightly greyed tone.
Step 4: Now, duplicate your text layer by dragging and dropping it to the new layer icon
in the Layers panel (shown below).
Step 5: Right-click the bottom text layer and hit "Rasterize Layer". Double-click this
rasterized text layer to bring up the effects menu. (It helps if you hide the top text layer
from view by clicking on the eye icon in the layers panel).
Step 6: With the effects panel up on this rasterized layer, click "Stroke" and set a 1 pixel,
outside stroke in the same color as the chalkboard text. Set the blend mode to "Dissolve",
and the opacity to 30%. You should get something that looks like this:
Step 7: Click "Pattern" and set the blend mode to "Dissolve". Almost any pattern will do.
Play with the settings until you get something like this:
Step 7: Now go to LAYER > LAYER STYLE > CREATE LAYER. This will turn
separate the effects layer from the type layer. Link the two in the layers panel, then click
the little arrow in the upper right corner of the layers panel and select "Merge linked".
Step 8: Your "fuzzy" layer should look just like it did in step 6. Go to FILTER >
GAUSSIAN BLUR and blur it will a radius of about 0.3 pixels or so. Make the top text
layer visible (that you duplicated in step 4), make sure it's above the layer you've been
working with, and set its blend mode to "Soft light". You should have something that
looks like this:
There you have it. Once you've got the steps down this effect is pretty quick to recreate.
Mess around with the smudge and soften tools to make the text look as if it was touched
when writing it. Hope this tutorial's useful to you.
Select "Flag" from the Style selection drop down. And set "Blend" to
12%. Then click OK. (see below)
Step 3 - Creating Glass effect
Rasterize your type layer. Then with the Lasso Tool select the top
half of your text like below:
Once you have it selcted the way you like, Ctrl C (copy), then Ctrl V
(paste) the selection.
Line the new layer back on top of your text so you can't see it. Once
you've done this, hold Ctrl key and click on the new layer in the
layer pallette, now that your highlight layer is selected Edit >> Fill...
Fill with white. You should see this:
Once your settings are set as above, click OK and you should end up
with this:
2. Type your text with black, I use font FuturisCameoC (you can use other similar
font):
3. Select Layer > Rasterize > Type. Now you can select each letter separately and
move it or rotate:
6. Create a new layer and using Brush Tools with Mode - Dissolve paint the Text:
Good luck, and be sure to check out our other Photoshop Tutorials!

15.Choose Bevel and Emboss apply the settings listed below and click ok.
16.Deselect the Layer by pressing Ctrl+D. Duplicate Layer 2, Move the Duplicate layer
below your original text layer. Choose the move tool from the Toolbox and reposition
Layer 2 copy a little down and toward the right. Your done.
Final
Underwater Text
This tutorial will show you how to create a text with a nice underwater effect like this:
Step 1
Use Filter --> Noise --> Add Noise with these settings:
Step 2
It's time to write your text. Use a bold font and apply some blending options, I used
stroke and Bevel and Emboss to get to this:
Step 4
Now apply Filter --> Stylize --> Extrude and fill in these settings:
Step 5
The next Filter you have to use is Glass (Filter --> Distort --> Glass) to make it look like
water
You may want to experiment with the scaling settings, the other settings should be
applied as shown below.
This is what you will get:
Step 6
Now hit CTRL-U and pick a color for your image, i used these values to get a water like
color:
There's your underwater text effect:
Create a new layer and fill it with any dark shade of gray color.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Ctrl+Click the layer thumbnail to get the selection. From select menu apply modify>>contract.
Contract the selection by 2 pixels.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Create a new layer and apply a black to white to black gradient in linear mode.
Pixel Shadow
This is a cool effect that can be done in a matter of secconds, and can make any piece of
text look more interesting.
Start off with a new image 400x400 pixels. Fill in the background
with black (#000000), then make a layer. In the new layer type your text (I will use the
word Pix), make sure the text is white for a better effect.
Hint - You can use any font you want, but the font i used is Arial size 72 Crisp.
Now you want to drag your layer containing the text onto the new layer button to
duplicate the layer. Go back to the previous text layer under the new one, go to
Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and click ok when it asks to rasterize the layer, for Radius
input 3.9 and click ok.
Add your #E5FFFF text under font arial black, and 48pt. Make sure you set the tracking
setting to -150.
Step two:
Now add a Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Satin, Gradient Overlay, and Stroke layer
styles.
Step three:
Add another text, move the layer at the bottom of every other layer. Add a Inner Shadow,
Inner Glow, Satin, and Pattern Overlay layer styles.
Step four:
Duplicate the layer you made in step three. Create a new layer and merge this new layer
with the duplicate. By doing so, the layer styles settings will now be permanent. Move
the layer on top of every layer in your layer panel.
Step five:
Step six:
Duplicate the motion layer and set it's blending mode to Color Dodge. Also position each
duplicate on top of each other, see picture guide for visuals.
Step seven:
Again add a duplicate of step one, a plain #E5FFFF text. Add a Inner Glow layer style
and set its blending mode to Color Burn.
Here's a fun, yet easy to follow tutorial that shows how to make a chalk effect that looks
like it's on asphalt texture.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
3. Use the Paint Bucket tool and fill in the entire layer with black.
6. Now select the Type tool and select white as your color. Type a word over the asphalt
texture. In this tutorial, we'll type "PHOTOSHOP".
9. Goto Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Click OK when asked to rasterize the type.
10. The Guassian Blur pop-up will then appear. Set the Radius to 3.5 pixels. Click OK to
accept changes.
11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 to create a third text layer that has been blurred with the
Gaussian Blur filter.
12. If you followed the preceding steps correctly, you should have three (3) text layers
that says "PHOTOSHOP". One that is still a type layer and two duplicate layers above it
that have been rasterized and blurred with the Guassian Blur filter.
13. This will result in your final chalk on asphalt text effect.
Alien text

Easy and cool looking effect. Just like from the Alien film.

Really suitable font cos ti adds something of an atmosphere to the text. Though it is just
text. Yet.
2. Change colour of the background to Black as well (and see nothing for a while:)
The effect will look best on black backround, or if you plan to use it somewhere, the
darker the background, the better look you get.
As I mentioned before, the only thing involved in this effect is the Outer glow feature. To
call the Layer style window, double click on the layer or use:
3. Layer/Layer style/Outer glow and use the settings as shown in the picture.
The thing is that we will not do the outer glow with a color, but with a gradient. So, click
on the gradient and set it to something like mine. You can do that by clicking on the
gradient and clicking on the lower left lever (what is the name for the thingy?) and
change its color to white. Do the same with the green color on the right. Now, to the
opacity, click on the right TOP lever :) and set opacity to ZERO. You can also work
with the small square that shows itself after clicking on the lever and by this change the
balance of the 2 colors/opacities.
4. Apply the setting like in the picture above. So, you should have the effect by now, I
hope you like it. It was really easy though good looking.
If you plan to use it somewhere, please try to save it in both GIF and JPG and compare
which of them suits it better. I am sure you already know that GIF is used for large areas
of one color and JPG for photos or pics with plenty of hues and gradients. Anyway, try
both of them to obtain desired outcome.
If you liked this tutorial (or even if you didnt :) please make a Comment and Vote in the
section below.
Thank you.
And if you happen to have a good idea of a tutorial (that is REALLY yours), you might
wish to send us the procedure in text form and/or pictures and we will place it on our site.
Be proud of what you can do.
Enjoy.
Step one:
• Add your #9F9176 text to the canvas. In this tutorial the font is Arial black, 60 pt,
Smooth, #9F9176 and -100 on character tracking. You need to set your text so each letter
is close to each other because we adding the bullet hole later, it will look much better if
the hole is behind two letter. What is character tracking? It's a setting in the character
panel, to open character panel go to windows > character. See picture guide for visuals.
Step two:
• Add the following layer-styles:

Step five:
• Finish it off with tiny smoke coming from the hole. This can be done in so many ways
but the easiest is drawing a random gray line from the hole to the top then erasing the top
so the tip is faded. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.
Finale:
Step one:
• First type your text. In this tutorial the font is Arial, Bold Italic, 60 pt, smooth and

Step three:
• Now the fun part, adding smoke, blue flame, and fire trails. First we have to modify the
brush so its shaped randomly. All you have to do is set your brush to a 13 px soft brush
and add the brush shape dynamics settings found below. To access the brush presets go to
windows > brushes.
Step four:
• Once the brush is set it's up to you if you want to add smoke or fire trail. To add this
elements, with the brush tool all you do is paint in a straight line and PS will render it into
random trails. Here are the color code for each element.
Step five:
• First the smoke trails. If your going to add this element, create a new layer and set the
opacity level to 74 %. On this tutorial I added a bunch of smoke trails on the body and
bottom of the text.
Step six:
• Now two set of fire, first a touch on the text.
• Create a new layer and add an Inner glow and Satin layer styles.
• Draw a straight #E6B442 line on the text and with the help of layer styles it should
render into fire element.

Step seven:
• One fire is great but more on the bottom of the text is even better, it will give your text
a burnout look. Just make a new layer, use the same color, technique and the same layer
styles settings as step six.
Step eight:
• Finish it off with blue flames. First add one smoke trail on the fire then in a new layer
draw a #0360A2 line on top of the smoke trail. Set the blue flames layer blending mode
to color dodge. See picture guide for visuals.
Finale:
• Remember if you want your final piece to be unique, experiment with the brush
dynamics and for every element use different settings.
In a new layer create some triangles, circles and squares with different color.
Merge all the shape layers. Ctrl+Click to get the selection. From edit menu select "Define
Brush Preset". Name this new brush "tootyfrooty brush".
Double click the text layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings
shown.
Apply a nice radial gradient in the background.
Step two:
• Write your text, I used this font settings, Eurostile, Bold, 72 pt, Smooth and #58583C.
Whats great about this technique is that it will turn a normal font to something grudgy so
if you start out with a grudge / gothic type font the final will look even better. But on all
of my tutorials, I use as much default as possible so it's easier for everyone to follow.
Step three:
• Add the following layer-styles:
Inner Glow Structure Blend Mode: Satin Structure Blend Mode: Color
Color Burn Dodge

Noise: 0 Opacity: 73

Step four:
• Load select the entire text then create a new layer and fill it with this color #EBEF52.
• Go to Filter > Blur > Guassian blur > Radius: 3.8 px.
• Move the layer behind the main text layer and set the blending mode to Color Burn.
• Add an inner glow and satin layer styles:
Finale:
• Duplicate the layer effect behind the main text layer. The more you add a duplicated
layer the better it will look.
• The slogan is font Eurostile, Bold, 10 pt, Smooth and #BC8D21 with a black stroke.
Then use Filter --> Pixalate --> Mosaic and use settings similar to this:
Step 2
Make a copy of your mosaic background layer, go to the original background, fill it with
white and type your text in it:
Merge the text layer with the white background (CTRL-E)
Step 3
Step 4
Step 5
Select that layer, apply Filter --> Stylize --> Find Edges.
1. Start out with a new 400x200 image with a white background. Add the text that you
are going to add the effect to using a font that is easily readalbe on the web, such as Arial,
Verdana, or Trebuchet MS.
2. Now we are going to start adding some effects. First copy the current text layer by
going to Layer > Dupicate Layer and name it Gradient Text Overlay. Now right click
on the original text layer and select Blending Options. Use the following settings for a
Drop Shadow and a Stroke.
3. Next we need to prepare for the gradient effect to be added. Select the Gradient Text
Overlay layer then using the text tool change the font color to white. Then in order to see
the layer behind, change the layer's mode to Overlay. Now in order to add effects to this
layer, you will need to Rasterize this layer by right-clicking on the layer and selecting
Rasterize Layer.
4. Finally we can actually begin making some visual changes. Select the Marquee Tool
then in the tool properties bar change the feather to 8-10 pixels. Make a selection on the
bottom half of the text as shown below then hit the delete key. Repeat this step on the top
quarter of the text.
Final:
Artistic Text On an Artistic Background Start by creating a leaf ornament shape using
custom shape tool.
From edit menu select define pattern. i named this pattern "artistic".
Fill the background layer with a nice radial gradient.
Type the text in a new layer with a font, bold enough to let the patter show from within.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply pattern overlay. From pattern
fly out select the pattern "artistic" u created in previous steps.
Apply other layer styles with settings shown.
The text will look like this after applying above layer styles.
Use same custom shape that was used to create pattern and draw to fill the background
with just one block of the shape.
Change layer mode of this layer to overlay.
Rasterize the layer. Ctrl+Click to get the selection. Contract the selection by 5 pixels.
Press Ctrl+Alt+D to feather the selection. I used 20 pixels setting. press delete to remove
the inner area of the circle.
It’s optional but you can use eraser tool with a soft brush setting to remove some hard
lines of the circle below the text.
Spiky Text
Step 1
Create a blank document, I made it 400*100px, you might want to make it larger.
Choose a nice font (not too thin) and write type your text.
Step 2
Hold down CTRL and click on the textlayer's icon to select your text and then apply
Filter --> Render --> Clouds
Hit CTRL-D to deselect the text.
Step 3
Step 4
You're going to use Extrude now (Filter --> Stylize --> Extrude..)
Play with the settings until you are satisfied with the spikes.
Step 5
Almost done!
Apply filter>>sketch>>chrome.
Use settings as shown.
Change the layer mode to multiply.
