ALL ANSWERS MUST BE IN COMPLETE SENTENCES AND YOU MUST
USE YOUR
OWN WORDS. ANSWERS CANNOT BE COPIED FROM ANY LOCATION.
1) Which three regions of the world earn the highest annual salaries? (3
points)
The three regions of the world that earn the highest annual salaries are North
America, Australia, and many European countries.

In the Details pane, click the Show Contents Of Map button. Point to the
Gross National
Income By Country, 2014 layer, and click the Show Table button. In the table,
click the
Gross National Income Per Capita, PPP column header and sort descending.
The three top earning countries are Qatar, Singapore, and the United
Arab Emirates. There are definitely surprises as the layfolk would assume the
country with the highest annual salaries would be the top earning countries,
but it is quite the opposite. The regions with the highest annual salaries are
North America, Australia, and different European countries, and none of them
where in the top three. Although they soon follow after the top three causing
the thought what is the top three countries doing to cause them to be from the
top earning countries.
3) What countries have the top five highest gross national income (GNI)
earnings in the
table? (5 points)
The five highest gross national income earning countries were Qatar,
Singapore, UAE, Norway, and Hong Kong,PRC.
4) What are the five lowest GNI earning countries? (Hint: In the same column,
sort
ascending.) (5 points)
The five lowest GNI earning countries are Aruba, Anguilla, Aland Islands,
Andorra, Argentina
5) Using information, you have available in Session 4- Consumption and
Waste Module
What environmental issues have you heard about that one of these high-
earning
countries faces? (at least 150 words) (10 points)
An environmental issue that one of the high earning country such as
America, faces is recycling single use plastics. It is a problem that reclycling
does not solve since they are used once. A solution they had was to send to
China, which was working well for America until China put an end to it.
America continued to send to neighboring Asian countries, but this is
just the beginning of a tragic environmental issue. America is also having an
issue since it has to close more and more of its incinerators due to the
pollution and uncontrolled waste, “Incinerators have been forced to close
because of the chemicals within your daily trash. Think about everything you
throw into your trash can: batteries, plastics, electronics, hazardous waste.
There are many products that are not good for the environment and
although there have been some solutions there are still problems that need to
be solved like finding alternative products.

6) What environmental issues have you heard about in the low-earning
countries? (at
least 150 words) (10 points)
An environmental issue that has been spoken about in a low earning
country such as the Philippines is recycling certain products from corporations
such as plastics and stereo foam .
The Phillipines in Manilla have come up with a system to deal with
waste except those hard to recycle products or recyclable claimed products,
that more often than not get dumped in some place never to be used. This
project in Manilla is very efficient but there hope is for the corporate
companies to use more trash friendly products, which is more suitable for
them and every environment.”We our left with 20-30% they can neither
composite or recycle.” Its quite interesting that even a high earning country
and low earning country share in this issue.
The problem of single use recyclable is something shared throughout
the world and is something that needs to be addressed by the world. With this
it can be hoped for a better solution to a common problem.

Norway is one of the countries that has made significant improvement
and holds the top spot in the human development index. The areas on the top
of this list is Europe, Australia, and North America.
Norway has many reasons for the cause of its high human development
index. The biggest of it is its production of petroleum, “It is fueled by oil and
gas exports which not only makes it extremely efficient and stable, but also
helps it to be one of the richest countries for many many more years to come.
Another major reason why Norway is so wealthy is Petroleum. It has also
received significant sums of wealth from petroleum exports after 1970s.” It
also has other reserves such as, seafood, hydro-power, lumber, minerals, natural gas,
and freshwater. Norway boasts of free health care as well as one of the lowest
unemployment rates in a country. The gap between the poor and rich is extremely
smaller compared to other countries. As well as having a smaller population which
allows it’s great development.
Norway is a beautiful country that has increased its human development index
by numerous factors. From them is its oil and petroleum production. The country
has a small population and the poverty level is quite low with good wages and low
unemployment. All of this has helped Norway maintain is handhold at the top.

It still has the same related affect those countries with a high GNI also have a
high HDI after 2010.
12) Does greater energy usage result in a greater increase in industrial
production? Factual
basis, sourcing needed. (100 words) (12 points)
Greater energy usage doesn’t necessarily have to be a greater
increase in industrial production. Many Green Tech advocates believe that
the two do not need to correlate rather you can use energy efficient systems
to produce in the economy such as industrial production.
A suitable example is solar power and how it can drastically change the
industrial use of energy, while being quite conservative in energy usage.
“Now, though, you've got 3.5 gigawatts of solar PV on the grid, according to
new Energy Information Administration numbers. You've got the global south,
where solar makes a ton of sense, growing quickly. You've got a whole
industry that wants to grow. This is a industry that is prime for growth as the
world goes to more energy efficient means.
Although a old belief is that greater energy usage result in greater
increase in industrial production, it is time to change the narrative. As the
world sees the importance of efficiency new forms of energy are being
discovered to better suit the human race and their daily lives as a whole.
