➢ Expectations are tied to one’s role and responsibilities. People’s
expectations of you are clarified and can become manageable if your
roles and responsibilities are well defined.
What causes these challenges?
Biological or physical factors such as genes, puberty, hormones, and brain
development cause challenges that adolescence needs to face. The development
of the prefrontal cortex after amygdala (part of the brain that has been linked to
risk-taking behaviors and sexual experimentation).
While the prefrontal cortex is still developing, your brain may not be able to
process what you feel and control your actions. This mental ability, in turn, may
cause problems.
FINDING SELF IDENTITY
One of the hardest tasks of adolescence is finding himself. There are many challenges
and issues in themselves, peers, family, school, and society.
Challenges in the family
➢ Quest for independence
➢ High expectations
➢ Making career choices
➢ Relationship issues (OPPOSITE SEX?)
How to deal with it?
➢ Communicate openly
➢ Understand your parents
➢ Be responsible
➢ Be close to God
School Demands:

and the like that stresses our youth. So, we must enhance their time
management skill as well as emphasize passion over pressure in their
responsibilities.
Readings: THE POWER OF DECLARATIONS
The power of declaration is also biblical, what
we think and claim to happen will be. It is about
hope and faith plus hard work that will help us
achieve our heart desires.
The Bible tells us that the tongue has the power
of life and death. (Prov 18:21) What we speak,
whether positive or negative, will have
consequences. What we declare will bear fruit.

James reminds us that our tongues are powerful—and that what we speak out
of our mouths has power to direct our lives. (James 3:3-5)
‘Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.’ (Ps 119:89)
Speaking out scripture can be a powerful way to:
Strengthen our faith (Romans 10:17)
Assist when breakthrough is needed
Be a weapon in times of spiritual warfare (Eph 6:17)
Help position us for the fulfillment of God’s purposes in our lives.
