The Garden
Your Grandfather has decided to relocate his Cabbage Garden from the front of the
yard to the Back of the yard where there is much more space to build two gardens.
You have volunteered to assist with this project. The old garden around the front
was a square plot of land with sides of 6 feet long. Grandpa along with yourself will

specifications,

Section 2 must have twice the perimeter as the old Garden
PERFORMANCE TASK/2019/MOCKPart1
On the Grid Below, draw your design for Section 1 and section 2.
Be sure to label each section (1 or 2) and include the dimensions. Each box on the
grid represents 1 square foot.

“The Harmful Effect of Chemical Skin Bleaching”
Paulena Chrnices
By Staff Reporter -
February 6, 2014
‘As trends go, it doesn’t take long before one that has taken root elsewhere in the Western Hemisphere
‘comes home to roost in Paulana. A somewhat disturbing one is the increasingly widespread practice of
skin bleaching, 8 we ere bombarded with lightening celebrities and cheap creams on the shelves. For
lasification, we are not talking about using a bit of ‘Ambi’ on the neck, underarms or other dark areas
here and there but more about the kind of fervent whole body bleaching that many have adopted to
change their complexion entirely. How common isthe practice? ~ You have only to look around at
friends, family members and random persons in the street. This subject is @ controversial one and this
fe could delve into colonialism, as awkward questions about identity and race are raised, but the
motive here is NOT to examine why we as 2 society even want fo lighten our skin in the first place but
instead to show how dangerous this practice is,
It is now known that chemical bleaching can lead to serious skin and health conditions which include:
‘permanent skin bleaching, thinning of skin, uneven colour loss, leading to blotchy appearence,
redness and intense irsitation, dark grey spots, skin cancer, acne, increase in appetite and weight gain,
osteoporosis, neurological and kidney damage due to igh level of mereury used in the creams,
psyehiattic disorders, asthma, liver damage and severe birth defects in children born to mothers who
abuse certain chemicals.
‘Keep in mind that even though a cream is sold over the counter, it is not necessarily safe, Hyroquinone,
‘a common ingredient of many of the creams in Paulana, (check ‘Precious’, Symba’ and ‘Septol’) for
example has long been linked toa disfiguring condition called ochronosi that causes @ splotchy
darkening of the skin and may even leave a web of stretch marks across the users face!

‘A milkman became very wealthy through dishonest means. He had to cross a siver daily to reach
the city where his customers lived. He mixed the water ofthe river generously withthe milk that
he sold for a big profit.
One day he went around collecting the money in order to celebrate the wedding of his son. With
the large amount he collected he purchased plenty of rch clothes and glittering gold jewelry. But
while crossing the river the boat capsized and all his costly purchases were swallowed by the
river.
‘The milk vendors were speechless with grief. At that time he heard a voice that came from the
river, “Do not weep, what you have lost is only the dishonest gains you earned through cheating
your customers”, said the river.

A Victim Tells His Heartbreaking Story on Bullying
In this task you will be asked to listen to an interview and react to what you hear:
Kids who are bullied are more likely to experience: Depression and anxiety, increased feelings
of satiness and loneliness, changes in sleep and eating patterns, and loss of interest in activities
they used to enjoy. Many victims of bullying do not tell anyone of their traumatic experiences.
‘This is because they are often terrified of the person bullying them. However, today I'm pleased
to have in our studios a teenage, David, prepared to share his story on national radio about being
a victim of bullying.
‘You are glued to the radio listening to the program and heard the topic. You remember your
friend in America, Richard, who was a victim of bullying and know he had a similar problem.
An Interview with a victim of bullying
