Jack: Is that all?

Anna: Hmmm… Hold on. Let me think... Ah! After that, go past the big church and
turn right into Saigon Road. And...

Jack: Okay. And?

Anna: Opposite Saigon Road is the Nguyen Street. You will see the Vina Mall. It’s
huge. National Bank is next to it. You surely won’t be lost anymore.

 Because and Because of

Because

Because is a conjunction which connects 2 sentences. Both sentences must have a

subject and a verb.

Pattern: sentence + because + sentence

Example:

I like pop because it is nice to hear. (“it is nice to hear” is a sentence.)

Because of

Because of is a phrasal preposition. A preposition should always be fol lowed by a noun

only.

Pattern: sentence because of + noun

Example:

I don’t like rock because of my mother. (“mother” is a noun.)
