GEC World/Contemporary World

Introduction: This course/subject is highly theoretical. The Contemporary World program is

part of the Social Sciences. It deals with problems and issues related to the environment,

population, wealth, power, tensions and conflicts. Social issues: This refers to issues related to

social inequality, discrimination, and access to basic needs such as healthcare, education, and

housing. Economic issues: This refers to issues related to economic growth, income inequality,

and unemployment.

A: essential outcome at the end of the course: to solve problems in global issues, in local issues.

B: essential skills or topics: to be able to acomplish the essential outcome, so analyzing global

topics, global issues, global information, answering global questions, asking global questions

and acquiring global (world) information.

C: critical thinking skills, communication skills, asertiveness, study skills.

industry, efficiency can lead to higher outputs

Interactive teaching: The practice of involving learners in the educational process by

encouraging them to bring their own experience and knowledge into the process, while also

contributing to defining or organizing their learning.

Assertiveness = is the ability, a communication skill, to express one‘s feelings, opinions

and needs in an appropriate way in interaction with other people. It includes the ability to
communicate, agree, disagree, request, but also criticize without manipulation,

aggression or passivity.

= means standing up for your personal rights - expressing thoughts, feelings and beliefs

in direct, honest and appropriate ways. By being assertive we should always respect the

thoughts, feelings and beliefs of other people.

Asertivness = to be forthright, positive, insistence on the recognition of one's rights.

GLOBAL = synonyms = world, international, general ,cosmopolitan, universal, planetary,

comprehensive, encyclopedic, all – around, cosmic, earthly.

CONTEMPORARY = synonyms = modern, present, current, latest, recent.

CONTEMPORARY WORLD = synonyms = modern world, present times, modern times.

WORLD = synonyms = globe, planet, earth ,universe, cosmos, creation, sphere,nature
