CELTA Interview Tasks
Please prepare the following tasks for the interview
Task One
What do you know about the CELTA course? Try to answer the following
questions:
1. How many candidates are there on a CELTA course?
2. What is the ratio of tutors to candidates?
3. What type of assessment procedure is there on the course?
4. How many hours of (mandatory) assessed Teaching Practice are there?
5. Who do you teach and how many different levels do you teach?
6. How many hours of (mandatory) observation of experienced teachers are there?
7. How many assignments are there? What is the word count for each assignment?
8. What do you submit for assessment purposes?
9. What sort of feedback do you give and receive on the course?
10. How much of the course are you expected to attend?
11. Who decides the grades and when?
12. What are the possible grades?
13. How much time do you intend to spend planning, doing background reading and writing
assignments during the course?
14. If you are accepted, what will you do to help yourself prepare for the course?
15. What does the centre contact you about after the course has finished?
Task Two
Look at the following pairs of sentences. Choose two pairs and decide what the
difference in meaning is between the sentences in each pair:
a) I remembered posting the letter.
b) I remembered to post the letter.
c) She’s gone to Rome.

e) He was leaving when we arrived.

Task Three
Look at the following sentences and focus on the parts in bold. What could
learners find challenging about these expressions/words?
a) I’ll pick you up at eight o’clock.

c) I thought the film was terrific.
Task Four
Look at the following sets of words/phrases. What sort of pronunciation problems
might learners have with them?
