order to have the full height of the graphical profile shown.
2
The Frame Database setup

The frame database is a easy way to find the

distance to any object from
AP (Aft Perpendicular)

In this sample the ship has 142 frames,

Frame 0 is at AP
From frame 0 to 12 the distance between
each frame is 0,60m
From frame 12 to 131 the distance between
each frame is 0,65m
From frame 131 to 142 the distance between
each frame is 0,60m

Enter max number of frames for the entire ship = 142 and click "Calculate"

Note:
If frame 0 is aft of AP enter the distance in meter with a negative sign
If frame 0 is forward of AP then enter the distance in meter
If frame 0 is equal with AP enter a 0
AP = Aft Perpendicular
Set focus in the field for frame 0 (AP)

Enter the frame distance to 0,60m as the distance from frame 0 to frame 142 and click "Draw"

Then set focus in the field for frame 12

Enter the frame distance to 0,65m as the distance from frame 12 to frame 142 and click "Draw"

Then set focus in the field for frame 131

Enter the frame distance to 0,60m as the distance from frame 131 to frame 142 and click "Draw“
Frame 142 should now be in the correct distance from AP at 91,150m

Click "Save" to save the Frame Database and click "Close".

distance in meter is given.

The value is saved to Windows Clipboard, so just set focus

at the field where the value to be used, right click and select
Paste 3
Cargo Hold Details
When entering data for the cargo holds, it is the outer dimensions required reared less to
narrowing's , dummy containers , tweendecks or tweendeck overhangs.

An easy way to find a distance from AP to the beginning of the cargo hold is to use the Frame
Database, click on "Frame DB" to view the Frame DB.
In this sample the cargo hold starts at frame 37, enter 37 in the Frame DB and press "Enter",
the Frame DB gives the distance from AP to frame 37 = 23,450m, the value is added to
Windows clip board so just set focus in the field m
right click and on the Windows menu click "Paste", or just enter the value.
Enter all values for the first cargo hold and click "Save" before going on to the next cargo hold.

When all details for the cargo hold have been saved, then set-up fixed tweendeck or moveable
tweendeck. In this sample the ship has moveable tweendeck, so click on "Moveable Tweendeck".

4
Movable tweendeck

In this sample the ship has 11 tweendeck pontoons, no coaming forward, aft or in
in the sides, so just enter 11 and click "Draw".
If your ship has any tweendeck coaming then enter the distance of the coaming,
eg if the coming aft is 1,2m from the beginning of the cargo hold to where the
tweendeck starts, then enter 1,20m for the distance aft.

When you have entered the number of tweendeck

pontoons for the cargo hold click on "Draw“.
The tweendecks is drawn up, and the length of
each pontoon is automatically set to a length
matching the length of the cargo hold divided with
the number of pontoons.
In this sample this is not correct, so each
tweendeck pontoon has to be corrected individually.

Click on tweeendeck pontoon no. 1 and the details for twd. no. 1 are shown.
Enter the correct values, but for the time being, do not enter any value for the
LCG unless you have the correct values.
You can use the function "Use same data for all Twd Pontoons (-Lcg)", that
way you don't need to enter the shared values for every pontoon.

Note:
The system gives you up to 3 different height settings of the tweendeck, if
one or more tweendeck pontoons only have one or two height settings, then
leave a 0 (zero) in the field for "Height under Twd in Low Position".
In some cases the tweendeck forward only has one position, this position
matches tweendeck mid position for the remaining tweendeck pontoons on
the aft part, the tweendeck "Height under Twd in Mid/Low Position" in the front then has to be 0 (zero), do not
leave the field for a tweendeck in Top pos to 0 and enter a value for a Mid pos, the final twd setting will then not
be shown correctly.
Enter all correct values for each tweendeck pontoon by clicking on each and enter the values.

When all tweendeck pontoons have been corrected, click on

This function corrugates all LCG's according to the tweendeck lengths and the starting points in the cargo hold
defined by the tweendeck coaming aft.
If any tweendeck pontoon has a shape other than a square, use the function "Setup special Twd shape"
Click on "Twd Colour" in order to select a color for the tweendeck pontoons.
Click "Save" when all tweendeck pontoons have been set-up and then "Close".

NOTE: You always have to go by the form DRAWSHIP form and click SAVE ALL before changes to
tweendeck is finally saved and useable for cargo planning.
5
Deck Space Set-up
The deck space form is use to define
the deck area which is used for carrying
cargo.
In this sample the ship is able to load
containers in front of the hatch on
container stanchions only, and aft of the
hatch a full deck area, it has also
container stanchions in the ship sides.

Cargo area A starts at the end of hatch

no. 1, it is 6m long and the width is 7,7m

Cargo area B starts at frame 17

and is 7.7m long and 13,0m wide.

Enter all values as shown and click

"Save".

The Crane Setup

To define the cranes, open the crane
form by clicking on the button "Cranes"
on the main form.

Enter the number of cranes for the

ship. In this sample enter 2 and press
the key "Enter".

In this sample, crane no. 1's turning

point is at frame 98 and crane no 2 at
frame 49.
Use the "Frame DB" to find the LCG
for each crane.

Enter all data for crane no.1 first,

Note: Cranes are counted from front
of vessel.

In case most of the data is the same

for crane no. 2, then use the function
"Copy all data to next crane (-Lcg)"
and then correct the data which are
different from crane no 1.

When all data have been entered

click "Save" and "Close".

6
Draw Ship, General principle
When all the basic data for the ship have been entered and saved, the ship has to be drawn up.

The system for how the ship is drawn up is like building a ship in "Lego" blocks, in stead of "Lego" blocks
we will here call it for Obstructions.
An obstruction can be the tanktop in a hold, a hatch cover, ship side etc.
Each obstruction is referred to by it's position in the ship by it's distance from Ap, distance from port side
and the distance from the keel to underside of the obstruction
Each obstruction has a length, width and height, and a status for how to respond to a unit being placed on
top or over lapping it.

Everything is build up in layers. Starting with the basic measurements of the ship throughout to the graphic
profiles. This means that some obstructions will be covered by others underway.

First all main obstructions are drawn; main dimensions of the ship, frames, hatch covers, cargo holds, tweendeck
and cranes.

In the "Draw Ship" form you can then add obstructions such as dummy containers, narrowing's and lines by use
of the "Obstruction Editor" under "Obstructions" on the menu bar.

It is recommended to enter all obstructions first and the add graphic profiles or vector drawings, and finally add
container system.

7
Draw Ship

If you have entered all details for the ship as earlier described, you are now able to draw the ship.
In the main form click on "Draw" and you should have a result as below. If not; then check the details you
have entered step by step from the beginning.

The ship has now been drawn up in main obstructions . Click "Save All" on the
menu bar.

Note: When you use the "Save All" function, the system redraws all the layers from
the bottom up and changes the focus to the top layer. To change the focus again,
use the function "Zorder" and the cross section selectors by moving the markers on
the dotted lines shown in front and below the ship.

Next step is to add obstructions to the ship, in order to have the correct view and
dimensions.

8
Obstruction Editor in the Draw Ship form

In the Draw Ship form, select "Obstructions", "All Obstructions" on

the menu bar, and the Obstruction Editor is shown.

The Obstruction Editor dialog box is used to edit

existing obstructions as well as to create new ones.
Each obstruction has a position on the ship, defined
be length from AP, length from port side, height above the
keel, and it's own length, width and height.

After entering a new or editing an existing obstruction,

click "Draw" and the oberstruction is updated.

The "Action" tells a unit "where to go" when it is placed over an obstruction:
On Top A unit placed on the obstruction will be placed on top of the obstruction.
To SB A unit placed on the obstruction will be placed on starboard side of the obstruction
To PS A unit placed on the obstruction will be placed on port side of the obstruction
Aft A unit placed on the obstruction will be placed aft of the obstruction
Fore A unit placed on the obstruction will be placed in front of the obstruction
Not Active The program does not take any action when a unit is placed on the obstruction

In this sample, we have to add a dummy container in the front of the tank top; click on "New"
in the "Name" field, enter the name of the obstruction "Dummy cont PS".
The "Action" to be done is to place the unit "On Top", as a unit placed on the dummy container can only be
standing on top of it...
Enter the position, length, width and height and click "Draw New".

As we need a dummy container in same position just in starboard side, use the
"Copy Menu" and "Copy to opposite side", to add a dummy container in starboard side.
Enter the name for the new obstruction "Dummy cont SB" check that the position and
dimensions are correct and click "Draw".
Use the functions "Layout" to change color etc. and "Line" to add a centerline etc. to the
obstruction.

9
Obstruction Editor; Cargo Hold
Narrowing
In this sample we have 4 different narrowing's on the
tanktop, 2 forward and 2 aft.

The first one is aft of the dummy container in PS.

To add a narrowing obstruction click on "New",
enter the name, position and dimensions.
Click "Draw New".

Click on the button "Select special Obstructions"

In the dialog box click on the type of special obstruction

needed, in this sample click on
"1. Cargo placed PS / Aft of." and click "Select"
and you are returned to the Position dialog box.
Note: for special obstructions the "Action" is changed
to the number selected "1. Special".

(See next page for additional layout options)

As you need a narrowing obstruction in the same

position just in starboard side, use the "Copy Menu" to
add one in starboard side. Enter the correct name and
check the position and dimensions.

Add two narrowing obstructions in the same way for

the aftpart of the tanktop.

Obstruction Editor; Layout

The Layout dialog box is used to give the different

obstructions different layout, such as color, shape and
fill style. Together with the graphical options in the
graphic editor, this gives a broad variety to choose
from.
In this sample the dummy containers on tanktop
forward are as shown besides.

10
Obstruction Editor; Line
To obtain the sloping lines in Side and Aft View for the narrowing, as seen below; In "Obstruction
Editor" under "Layout" select "Hide" for Side and Aft View, click "Draw", select "Line", under Side View
click "Insert Line" flick through the various line options to find one corresponding to the view by
clicking on "Line". Then do the same for the Aft View.

Obstruction Editor; Drop Zones

In the Obstruction Editor select an obstruction on the

list and click "D - Zone"
A drop zone is a function to give the user information
about the obstruction.
In this sample for the dummy container, we have
added a drop zone seen in the top view only.
In the field "Text Shown" you can add any text to be
shown in the obstruction.
In the "Mouse popup text" field, add text, which is
only shown when the mouse curser is pointing on the obstruction.
In the "Position Text" enter the text, which is given to a unit placed on the obstruction. This text is shown
on the "Loaded List" in LoadPlanner under "Stowed" as a text reference to the unit's position on the ship.

You should now have the ship to look like above.

Click on "Save All" on the menu bar, and the ship file is ready for use in LoadPlanner.
But the ship still needs to be added graphical profiles in order to look like a ship.

11
Graphical Profiles Add

To Add a graphic profile, Open the form Draw Ship

Edit a Profile, Draw Ship
Click on the menu bar “Graphic View” > “Tweendeck View” or the view to be edited “Edit Profile”

In the Profile editor, edit the profile, when completed click “Save Profile”

Set Transplant Color

In many cases especial with tweendeck profile and in order to see cargo pleased on the tank top an area of the
tweendeck profile has to be transplant.
In LoadPlanner Build the transplant color is sat to plain red, so in LoadPlanner transplant areas will be red but
in LoadPlanner it will be transplant,

Aft Profile
Aft view profiles are always seen from aft towards forward, the same as for bay plans.

To add aft view profiles; First save the aft view profile (transverse profile) from the PDF format as described earlier,
then click "Graphic View" then "Aft Profile" then "Import Profile", in the file dialog box select the file you have saved of
the aft profile from PDF format and click "Open".

In the dialog box for "Aft view Profile" we now have the aft view of
the cross section at crane no. 1, this view has to be shown from
frame 96 to 102, by use of the Frame Database, frame 96 is
61,80m from AP and frame 102 is 65,70m from AP.
In the dialog box enter the distance the profile has to be shown
from and to, and click "Save".
Then use the "Adjust" function to get the profile in scale, matching
the hatch cover and tank top. When you are done click "Save"
and then "Edit" to transfer the profile to the graphic editor.

If the profile is a mirror image, Click “Edit” and

in the graphic editor select the profile by
clicking on "Edit", "Select All" then "Image"
and "Flip/Rotate".
