I. Introduction:
In this essay, i will provide a logical/physical design of the network system, evaluate the
design of the network for whole building and implement a networked system based on a
prepared design. Finally, this report will document and analyze test results against
expected results.

II. A logical/physical design of the network system with clear explannation and
addressing table:
1. The differences between Physical Network and Logical Network:
• Physical Network: A physical network topology diagram will include icons of
elements like workstations, servers, routers, and switches, while the lines
between these elements represent cable connections. In a sense, this is the
most “accurate” representation of your network, as you’re portraying how the
actual elements are laid out and connected in a material sense. However, this
isn’t necessarily the most useful type of diagram to create. Often, it’s more
important to understand how data is transmitted between devices and how
data behaves in your network, which doesn’t necessarily match the underlying
physical layout.
• Logical Network: Logical topology diagrams are focused on the way data
connections work across the computer network and can reveal how devices
communicate with each other. While the diagram will include similar nodes as

seen in a physical network diagram, like servers, routers, and switches, the lines
represent data flow rather than physical cabling. Admins may create multiple
logical network diagrams, including maps to describe their WAN, LAN, AWS,
Cisco, and other environments. These diagrams may be highly detailed or
provide a high-level overview. With these diagrams in hand—and especially with
diagrams showing up/down status alerts—admins gain a better understanding
of network layout and performance and can identify problem spots more
quickly.
2. Explain User’s Requirements:
 A local school hired the company to set up a computer network. Details about the
procject are included: 235 people, 85 computers, 3 printers and 3 servers in a
building which has 3 floors.
3. Logical design of the network base on user’s requirement:

III. Evaluate the design to meet the requirements:

1. Test Plan:
1.1. Ground Floor:
 Ping PC_1 to PC_15

 Ping PC_33 to PC_35

Page | 8
 Ping PC_16 to PC_32

1.2. Second Floor:

 Ping PC_36 to PC_47

Page | 9
 Ping PC_48 to PC_60

1.3. Third Floor:

 Ping PC_61 to PC_72

Page | 10
 Ping PC_73 to PC_85

2. Evaluate the design of the network:

2.1. My system network design details:
 Ground Floor include: 35 computers, 3 printers, 3 switchs
Page | 11
 Second Floor include: 25 computers, 2 switchs, 1 multilayer switch

 Third Floor include: 25 computers, 2 switchs

In this my design, there are 1 router and 1 multilayer switch to connect to the internet for
the whole building, multilayer switch and router are used to respond to user requests and
ensure that data is transmitted.

2.2. Limitation of my design:

My design has only 1 router to connect to the internet for the whole building so the
speed of the connection will have some limitation about bandwitch.

Page | 12
2.3. Strength of my design:
 My design has a simplest way to build a system network for the whole builiding
with the limitation of devices.
 IP address is easy to remember and it will tell where the devices at.
 The simple design with the cost very suitable.

2.4. Solution:
Upgrade the system with more routers to help increasing the speed of the connection.

IV. Implement a networked system based on a prepared design:

1. Setting mode trunk for VLAN:

Step 4: Check the result

V. Document and analyze test results against expected results:

 Overall system network connection:

1. Provide a step by step setting VLAN between student computer and staff
computer for security
 Setting VLAN for teacher computer

Step 1: Create VLAN 10 for switch 1 that connect to teacher computer

Step 2: Add teacher computer to VLAN 10

Page | 24
 Setting VLAN for computer network administrator

Step 1: Create VLAN 20 for switch 2 that connect to computer network administrator

Page | 25
Step 2: Add computer network administrator to VLAN 20

Step 3: Access VLAN 20 from multilayer switch

Page | 26
 Setting VLAN for remaining staff computer

Step 1: Creating VLAN 30 for switch 3 that connect to remaining staff computer

Step 2: Add remaining staff computer to VLAN 30

Step 3: Access VLAN 30 from multilayer switch

2. Test results against and test plans:
For security, PC from second floor and third floor can’t connect to PC in ground floor. In ground
floor, PC of teacher, administrator and staff can’t connect to each other.

VI. Conclusion:
Overall, after showing the design of network diagrams according to user requirements,
the setting of the address for each area in the building has been completed. Checking the
ping command of each computer that has received data and the security of network
system has been completed.
