DUNKIN' DONUTS

Background and History

The story of Dunkin’ Donuts began in 1948 with a donut and coffee
restaurant in Quincy, Massachusetts called “Open Kettle.”

Founder William Rosenberg served donuts for five cents and premium
cups of coffee for ten cents. After a brainstorming session with his
executives, Rosenberg renamed his restaurant “Dunkin’ Donuts” in
1950. His goal was to, “make and serve the freshest, most delicious
coffee and donuts quickly and courteously in modern, wellmerchandise
d stores,” a philosophy which still holds true today. In 1955, the first Dunkin’ Donuts franchise opened, and
in just 10 years, the number of restaurants had grown to over 100 shops. It
was after reaching this milestone that, in 1972, Dunkin’ Donuts introduced its iconic Munchkins® donut hole
treats. In the years since, Dunkin’ Donuts has expanded its menu to include a wide variety of food and beverage
options to keep guests running all day.Dunkin’ Donuts coffee is available in a variety of delicious flavors,
including classics like Hazelnut and French Vanilla, as well as seasonal flavors including the ever-popular
Pumpkin. According to Brand Keys, Dunkin’ Donuts has maintained the #1 spot in customer loyalty in the coffee
for 10 years running. In addition to coffee and espresso, Dunkin’ serves a host of other beverages such as hot
chocolate, iced tea, Coolatta® frozen drinks and smoothies. The all-day food options feature innovative menu
items like the Big N’ Toasted™, alongside a number of other breakfast sandwiches and bakery products. More
recent additions to the menu include Rainforest Alliance Certified™ Dark Roast coffee, Cold Brew and the
Macchiato, as well as the Croissant Donut platform. Dunkin’ Donuts has also become a leader in digital
innovation. The Dunkin’ Mobile® App allows guests to pay right from the app with their virtual Dunkin’ Donuts
Card. The App also lets guests browse the menu, locate the nearest Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant, access their DD
Perks® account to find mobile coupons and offers, and more. In 2016, Dunkin’ introduced On-the-Go Ordering,
which allows DD Perks members place a mobile order up to 24 hours in advance, select their desired location,
and then pick up their order inside a Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant, or at the drive-thru. Since 1950, the number of
Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants has increased to more than 12,000 worldwide, with locations in 45 countries. The
company serves approximately 1.9 billion cups of hot and iced coffee every year, with standards for coffee
excellence that are among the best in the industry. Over the long-term, the company plans to more than double
its U.S. presence, which will put the total number of restaurants above 17,000.

AVON

History and Background

the founder of Avon David H. McConnell was a progressive pioneer, an impressive

visionary, a courageous game-changer, and above all, a champion of women.
But he didn’t set out to create a beauty company. He was a travelling book salesperson
who offered beauty products as a gift. He soon realised customers were more interested
in the free perfume samples than the books. From a small New York City office in
September 1886, McConnell mixed the first fragrances himself and recruited a team of
women to be sales Representatives. It was a radical business model in 1886, but
McConnell believed in the power of community, and was passionate about giving
women economic freedom.

America's first Avon Lady

Because of her retail experience, McConnell hired Albee as his first general
agent in 1886. She offered small samples to women who might be
interested in the products throughout the town of Winchester. Albee went
door-to-door offering to talk about her products.

Revenue

From 2011 to 2022 the revenue of Avon products Inc. has drastically decreased, leading many to think
that this beauty staple might be facing its decline. In 2022, Avon’s revenue amounted to approximately
2.77 billion U.S. dollars, down from about 9.23 billion U.S. dollars generated around ten years before.
Location Branches

Since Avon’s founding in 1886, the company has grown into a worldwide cosmetics and beauty staple. The
firm’s approach of contracting self-employed sales representatives created passionate advocates around the
world and led to Avon now being established in over 100 countries.

Avon has all over 190 branches in the Philippines

Products

Avon sells cosmetics, skin care, perfume, and

personal care products.

Evironmental Policies

Avon made a promise that every new product they create will include a sustainability gain. They’re on an
ambitious journey to reduce the environmental footprint of their packaging. They reducing use of virgin

During the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting, Department of Trade and
Industry Secretary Ramon M. Lopez emphasized the importance of inclusive globalization for economic
recovery. He called for intensifying regional and international cooperation in trade, investments, and
health. He emphasized the need to build capacity and empower vulnerable groups, including MSMEs, to
be a substantial part of the global value chain. He also urged the Philippines to avoid unwarranted non-
tariff measures, as they burdened exporters. Before the World Trade Organization's 12th Ministerial
Conference in Geneva, Secretary Lopez outlined the country's priorities, including ending negotiations on
fisheries subsidies and agriculture, and promoting joint initiatives on e-commerce, MSMEs, investment
facilitation, and trade and gender.

My Reaction:

My reaction to this article is that for me, i agree that we should urge inclusive globalization to
accelerate the recovery of our economy and also expand the opportunities for other people. Now
that we have just experienced the pandemic it has become even more important to urge because
the pandemic brought down the economy of the Philippines it really has a large impact on our
economy which is what we need and important not just for us but for the whole country.
The World Trade Organization (WTO) has called for "re-globalization" amid signs of trade fragmentation
that threatens growth and development. The report defines re-globalization as increased international
cooperation and broader integration, by integrating more people, economies, and pressing issues into
global trade and strengthening multilateral cooperation. The report examines how re-globalization could
address three major challenges facing the global economy: national and economic security, poverty
alleviation, and environmental sustainability. WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala emphasized
the importance of strengthening the trading system, stating that the case for embracing trade is stronger
than the case for walking away from it. The report also highlighted the relationship between economic
integration and three major challenges facing today's global economic order: security and resilience,
poverty and inclusiveness, and environmental sustainability. The report argues that "re-globalization" is a
more promising solution than fragmentation, as trade openness is strongly linked to reduced conflict
likelihood and has led to sharp declines in poverty for over four decades.

My Reaction:

I think just like inclusive globalization, we also need re-globalization because it examines how some
issues of our country can affect our economy like political issues, environmental issues, poverty, and
other issues that our country faces. I also agree with director-general Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala that it is
important to strengthen our trading system because this regulates the trading or buy and sell which
is very important for the growth of our economy.
