I am Parv Soni, hailing from Panipat, Haryana, I am a recent graduate of the millennium

school where I cultivated a deep intellectual curiosity and excelled academically, securing
90.5% in my Year 12 examinations with a focus on Economics, Psychology, Political
Science, and English.

My father is deeply involved in our family’s textile business and puts his soul into it, my
mother as a homemaker imbibes our family with cultural and emotional values, my
grandfather is a retired bank employee who imparts discipline to us. Our family is
financially well off with a combined net worth of 1.6 million AUD. This robust financial
standing will allow us to comfortably cover my educational costs and living expenses
during my stay in Australia and also ensures my ability to focus fully on my academics and
personal development.

I got introduced to the word psychology through my elder brother. Since then, I’ve been
exploring the world of psychology. To know: how does mental stress affect the functionality
of our lives? How do we feel, what we feel? How does workplace culture shape behavior?
First, I need to grasp the basics of human dynamics, which has led me to apply for the
Bachelor’s in Psychology.

I am eager to pursue my studies at University of Adelaide because it is ranked #82

globally (QS Ranking) and holds the No. 1 spot in South Australia for graduate
employability. The curriculum's focus on areas like cyber-psychology, human ethics, and
addressing real-world global issues is particularly exciting for me. Moreover, Adelaide’s
affordable living costs, student-friendly public transport, vibrant cultural scene, and
beautiful parks and beaches make it an ideal location for both my academic and personal
growth.

I have always been fascinated by the intricacies of human behavior, which led me to
develop a deep interest in psychology. This curiosity has significantly influenced my
academic and career choices, particularly after year 10, when I decided to take psychology
as my main subject. This decision has allowed me to explore the complexities of the mind
and has motivated me to make meaningful contributions to areas such as mental health
and overall well-being.
I recall one such instance, when my friend was going through profound emotional distress,
I made it a priority to be there for her whenever she needed support. Balancing my
academic responsibilities while being there for her was challenging, and though I’m not
perfect at managing my time, I tried my best to be present when she needed me. This
experience taught me the importance of being dependable, even when life gets busy. I
aimed to communicate with her in a way that made her feel understood and never judged,
providing a safe space where she could open. Over time, with consistent support and
encouragement, she was able to see things through.

On another note, being an elder brother has further refined my skills in communication and
adaptability. Tutoring my younger brother, I’ve learned how to break down complex
concepts and explain them in ways that make sense to him. This required patience and
flexibility, as I had to adjust my approach based on his needs and learning style. I genuinely
enjoyed this role because it gave me a chance to bond with him while helping him grow.
