Assigned By: Prof. Neeraj Gautam
Note: Solve the Questions in your Sketch book.
1. Construct a scale of 1:4 to show centimeters and long enough to measure up to 5 decimeter.
2. On a map the distance between two points is 14 cm. The real distance between them is 20
km. Draw a diagonal scale to read kilometers, hectometer and measure unto 25 km. Shows
a distance of 17.6 km on it.
3. The dimensions of an ancient tower, Qutub Minar are as follows;
Height = 79 yard and 1. Foot
Bottom diameter = 15 yard 2 feet and 3 inches
Top diameter = 3 yard.
3
If the height 𝑠 represented by the line of 29 4 inch on the drawing, find RF. Draw a diagonal
scale of this R.F long enough to show the diameters of the tower.
4. Construct a suitable scale to measure km, hectometer and spaces of 125 decimeter when
distance of 1 km is represented by 3 cm. The scale should long enough to measure a
distance of 5 km. Indicate on the scale distance of 3 km 5 hm and 5 decameter.
5. A rectangular Garden of area 196 m2 is shown on a map by a similar rectangle of 4 cm2
construct a plane scale to read up to a single meter and long enough to measure up to 9.8
decameter.
6. A tunnel on the Konkan railway route has a size of 640 m × 10 m × 10 m. It is
represented on a model by the volume of 27 cm3 , find RF. Device a diagonal scale of this
R.F. to Read up to 300 m. Show the distance of 299 m, 171 m, and 9 m on it.
7. Construct a scale to measure km, 1/8 km, 1/40 km in which 1 km is represented by 4 cm.
Mark on this scale the distance of 2.775 km.
8. A car is moving at a speed of 60 km/hr. On a scale one cm represents one third of a km.
Show the distance travelled by the car in 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
9. An airplane is flying at a speed of 360 km/hr. Draw a diagonal scale to represent 6 km by
1 cm and to show up to 60 km. Find the R. F. of the scale. Show the distances covered by
the airplane in (i) 3 minutes and 21 seconds, (ii) 5 minutes and 36 seconds and (iii) 7
minutes and 49 seconds
10. An old plan was drawn to a scale of 1 𝑐𝑚 = 24 m. It has shrunk, so that actual length of
100 m at site now works out to 96 m as per scale on plan. Find out the shrinkage factor
and the corrected R.F. of the plan.
