1. Search the Web for a company that is purely Web-based. Next, find the Web site of
a company that is a hybrid (i.e., they have a traditional brick-and-mortar business plus
a presence on the Web). What are the pros and cons of dealing with each type of
company? Write and justify in critical ways.
1. Netflix Company (NFLX): Web-based Company
Generally, purely web-based companies rely solely on the internet to provide their
services. This can be beneficial as customers can easily access the company’s services
from anywhere in the world. For example, Netflix company that provides streaming
video services for entertainment customers. There are over 222 million members of the
network in over 190 countries. When deciding between a purely web-based company,
it is important to consider all of the pros and cons before making an informed decision.
Pros:
• Convenience and competitive pricing as web-based companies usually have
lower overhead costs, resulting in more competitive pricing.
• Fast and less-time request as it is simple to be used even by small businesses.
• Can cover a large geographical area for agents and customers.
Cons:
• Lack of the personal touch for real physical presence: This can be a con for
customers who prefer face-to-face interactions.
• Vulnerable to internet outages: Flaws in internet outages can lead to security
problems and customer dissatisfaction.
• Security Concerns: Customers may worry about the security of their data when
dealing with a purely web-based company.
2. Slack Company (Slack.com): Hybrid Company
Hybrid companies combine a physical presence with web-based services. This can be
useful for customers who value the personal touch of a physical presence in addition to
surveying services over the internet. Slack company sits at the forefront of hybrid
businesses. The company announced in 2020 that it would be allowing employees to
work permanently from home while keeping its offices open. Like web-based
companies, hybrid companies have their advantages and disadvantages, so it is
important to consider all of the factors before making a decision.
Pros:
o Provide the personal touch of real physical presence.
o Offer a more secure environment for customer data.
1
Cons:
o Limited to certain geographical areas: If the customer is located outside of the
hybrid company’s service area, then the company is only limited to web-based
services.
o Have higher overhead costs (Costs of employees on both sides): It is significant
to consider the customer’s budget as well as the geographical location. if the
customer is on a tight budget, then only web-based services may be the more
cost-effective choice.
o May not be able to provide the same level of convenience as purely web-based
companies and their services.
2. Discuss advertisements through e-mail. Are they directed toward any specific
audience or product category? Do you pay much attention or just delete them? How
much work is it to get off an advertising list? Why would and wouldn’t you try to get
off the list?
Email marketing is a powerful method of building relationships with customers. Having
the right strategy and tactics in place can make email marketing a powerful tool for any
business, making it an integral part of any digital marketing plan. Email marketing can
be directed toward any specific audience or product category depending on the goals
and objectives of the campaign. Email marketing is used to reach out to existing
customers, acquire new customers, or promote a specific product or service. The goal
of email marketing is to build relationships with customers and increase sales. For
example, email marketers can segment their lists to target specific audiences. This
allows them to send more relevant and personalized messages to their customers. In
addition, they can also use demographic data, such as age, gender, and location, to target
specific audiences. Furthermore, they can use emails to cross-sell or upsell related
products and services by providing helpful information, such as tips and tricks, or to
offer exclusive deals and discounts. Finally, email marketers can measure the
effectiveness of their campaigns by tracking the number of unsubscribes, the number
of complaints, and the number of spam complaints. This data can be used to improve
future campaigns and ensure that they are more effective.
Getting off an advertising list can be a relatively simple process, but it is important to
read the terms and conditions of the company before unsubscribing. Most companies
provide an easy way to unsubscribe from their emails. All you have to do is click the
unsubscribe link in the footer of the email and you will be removed from the list. People
may choose to get off the email listing for various reasons. It may be because they are
not interested in the product or service, or they may be receiving too many emails from
the company. On the other hand, many people may choose not to get off the email
listing due to their reasons. For instance, if the content is engaging, helpful, and tailored
to customers' interests, they may be interested in the content and keep the subscription.
