THE MOON LANDING (1969)
The summer of 2024, marked the 54th anniversary of the
moon landing, it was a remarkable and ambitious goal of
the US President, John F. Kennedy. The landing enabled
scientists to understand the age of the moon, by
examining the rocks that were found. In addition, the
moon landing enabled us to understand the origin of the
solar system, by looking at the internal structure of the
moon. In the summer of July 1969, astronauts Neil
Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, were
launched in a 363 feet rocket, into the space for this
mission. The main goal or aim of the mission was to
successfully perform human landing on the moon. To sum
it up, the apollo 11 had a very important impact on
science and technology. The landing enabled the
development of personal laptops and smartphones.
Finally, coming to the long term impacts of the mission,
and how it inspired the younger generation, and how it
influenced stem education. To begin with, more then 300
million people watched the live broadcast of the landing,
which then motivated alot of people to pursue a career in
astronomy, and aerospace engineering. All in all, the
mission had a very lasting significance in both scientific
and cultural contexts.
