GETTING
STARTED
Welcome to your digital notebook.
Element Note is the next-gen note taking, PDF annotation, and light
sketching app. We stripped down the unnecessaries and carefully
polished the elemental functions for a notebook. With a modern look
and refined features, Element Note strives to provide an elegant writing
space free of distractions.
To have the best experience, we suggest using an iPad compatible
stylus like the Apple Pencil. A paper-like screen protector is also
recommended as it helps simulate real-world handwriting experience.
USER
INTERFACE
Let’s walk through the basics starting with the interface.
Element Note has two modes, a read-only mode, and an edit mode. In
the read-only mode, you can browse without accidentally making an
edit. Tap on the edit button at the top toolbar to switch to the edit
mode, where you can use the amazing writing tools that Element Note
provides.
Pen - digital inking tool to write on your note
You can store multiple pen presets to switch between them
Eraser - erase strokes from the pen tool
Lasso - select strokes and elements
Add Element - add page elements like text, shapes, stickers, or images
For Pen, Eraser, and Lasso tools, once selected, tap on the icon again
to show the corresponding options menu. These menus allow you to
customize individual tool settings. Pen for example, gives you the
options to edit the brush type, size, and color.
PEN
Element Note come with 4 types of pen tools. Pencil, Pen, Brush, and
Marker. Each has multiple variants with their own unique
characteristics and feel.
Tapping on the brush icon again will allow you to select a variants and
adjust the stabilization value.
GRADIENT INK
Element Note also has support for beautiful gradient ink. Gradient ink is
a powerful way to enhance your note’s visual look. Simply tap the
button in the color picker to add a new color, select Gradient in the
dropdown menu, then pick the start and end color of the gradient.
There are also further gradient customization available:
• Switching between RGB or HUE gradient
• Switching Gradient Rendering Mode
• Stroke Gradient (default) - gradient over the entire brush stroke
• Brush Gradient - gradient over the brush vertical length
• Force Gradient - gradient based on the force applied
ERASER
Element Note come with 2 types of erasers. The Stroke Eraser erases
the entire stroke when touched. The Partial Eraser, on the other hand,
erases only the areas reached by your finger or stylus.
LASSO
Lasso tool allows you to select multiple strokes by circling an area.
Once selected, you can move, scale, rotate, cut, copy, or delete the
selection together.
Tap on the lasso tool button again will bring up selection type filter
settings.
ADD
ELEMENT
Element Note supports many kinds of static elements that you can add
into your notes. The preloaded elements includes text, shapes,
stickers, and images. You may also add your own elements from
device.

Stickers
Stickers are arranged in stickers sheets. To create a new sticker
sheet, tap the button, then tap New Sticker Sheet, then tap the
(Add Sticker) at the bottom right corner to add new stickers to it.
Some single colored sticker also supports color switching.

EDITING
GESTURE
Element Note is built with intuitive gestures for performing certain
actions quickly.
• Two finger tap to undo
• Three finger tap to redo
• When using Add Element tool:
• Single finger tap to select an element
• Once selected, use single finger drag to reposition an element
• Once selected, use two finger drag to scale or rotate an element
• In edit mode with Touch Drawing enabled:
• Use two finger to scroll your note
If you have a stylus, make sure you turn off Touch Drawing in
Settings. This allows you scroll with one finger when editing.
PAGE
ORGANIZER
The page organizer allows you to rearrange, delete, or add new pages
to your note. You can access it via the (Page Organizer) button or in
the (More) menu. Simply long press on a page to see the available
actions. To reorder a page, long press on the page and drag it to the
new location without lifting your finger.
You can also select multiple pages by tapping on the (Select)
button. Once you’ve selected multiple pages, simply drag to reorder,
delete, or export them together.
To add a new page, simply tap the New Page button at the end of
the note. You can create a new page from these 4 sources:
• A Blank Page using your note’s current paper template
• From your Photo Library
• Scan Document using the camera
• From the Files app. (pdf, png, jpg)
You can also insert new pages directly before or after a page. Just long
press on the page, then tap Add Page Before or Add Page After.
PAPER
TEMPLATE
Element Note provides customizable paper templates to use in your
notes. You can change the paper type both at the note level, or on the
page level.
On note level:
1. Tap (More)
2. Tap Note Settings
3. Tap Paper Template
On page level:
1. Tap (Page Organizer)
2. Long press on the page to show the options menu
3. Tap Change Paper
DARK MODE
Element Note has amazing support for the system wide dark mode out
of the box. It will smartly invert the color of your note in dark mode.
However, for some document, this might not be the desired behavior.
You can override the Appearance settings in the Note Settings
on a per note basis. Alternatively, you can override the entire app’s
appearance in Settings.
NOTE
ORGANIZATION
Organizing your notes is easy in Element Note. You can group your
notes into folders, or mark individual ones as favorite. Tap on the name
of the folder from the sidebar to switch to that folder. The sidebar might
be hidden when the horizontal space is small. In that case, swipe right
to show the sidebar.
• Tap (Add Folder) to create a new folder.
• To move a note into a folder, either:
1. Long press on a note ! Move to Folder
2. Long press and drag the note to the folder on the sidebar.
• To mark a note as favorite, either:
1. Long press on a note ! Add to Favorite
2. Long press and drag the note to Favorite on the sidebar.
You can select multiple notes by tapping (More) ! Select.
Then you can move all selected notes or mark them as favorites.
You can sort the order of your notes by:
• Tap (More)
• Tap Sort By
SYNC &
COLLABORATION
Element Note uses iCloud to seamlessly sync your notes across your
Apple devices. It also supports iCloud collaboration which allows up to
100 users to edit together. Syncing requires an iCloud account. If you
do not want your note to sync across your devices, simply disable it in
Settings.
To start a collaboration on a note:
• Tap (More)
• Tap Add Collaborator
• Follow the on-screen guide to send your invitation
To manage collaborators or pending invites:
• Tap (More)
• Tap Collaborators
SEARCH
YOUR NOTES
Element Note uses on-device AI text recognition powered by Apple’s
VisionKit. It recognizes handwriting in your notes and allows you to
search through them.
To search all of your notes:
• Tap (Search)
To search within a note:
• Tap (More)
• Tap Find in Note
By default, Element Note uses your system language to recognize your
handwritings in notes. You can override the recognization language in
Note Settings.
