Writing Task 1 Describing a Possession

Objectives: Students will have practiced the language to describe a possession and then describe something that they
own in writing
When we are describing an object, we should mention some of its qualities. These can be the size, the shape,
or the purpose of the object. In English, there is an order for adjectives that we can use to describe an object.
Adjective Type Examples
1. Opinion beautiful, cool
2. Size big, small
3. Age old, new
4. Shape round, square
5. Color red, blue
6. Material wooden, plastic
7. Purpose cooking (pan), sleeping (bag)
This is a big round wooden dinner table. This is a cool old mobile phone.
TASK 1. Describe the objects in the pictures in 4-5 sentences.

When you want to describe an object in more detail, you can use the adjectives in separate sentences. You can
write about the physical appearance and the function of the object.

TASK 2. Read the text below, and underline the verbs. Then, fill in the table below:
My smartphone is very small. The phone is made of metal and glass. It has a large, colorful screen for
watching videos and browsing the Internet. It has a powerful camera for taking pictures and recording
videos. I use it to call and text my family and friends, and connect to social media.
