BLOG ENTRY #543: May 8th, 2017 – My trip to Dublin, a nice memory
Two years ago, in July of 2015, we travelled to Dublin in the east bay of Ireland,
to spend some family time. We were 5 people in total, my parents, my sister, my
cousin and I. We stayed there for 3 days.
We flew there by plane and the trip was 3 hours long, but we were all so
excited to land that it felt like minutes! As soon as we stepped foot in Ireland, we
headed to our hotel to unpack our bags. We were staying in a place near the Phoenix
Park and the Dublin Zoo, so that’s what we visited first. We took a tour around the
park, and basked in the fresh air the trees offered us. The tour guide took us to the
Phoenix Monument and the Wellington Testimonial, where we learnt about the story
behind the two pillars.
Dublin Zoo was, as we were expecting, really interesting, but we didn’t get to enjoy it
much because not only was it starting to get dark outside, but the cold was also
becoming unbearable, and the weather forecast warned us of a possible rainfall.
On our second day, we opted to travel the streets. We walked through Grafton
Street and looked into the thousands of shops available. We stopped at a Café to grab
a snack and bought souvenirs for the rest of our family. We were all still a bit tired
from the plane trip, so my dad decided we should wrap the day up earlier, and we
went back to our hotel after 5PM.
On the 3rd day, right after we woke up, we packed our bags. Our flight only took
off at 9PM, but my father insisted it was a better idea to be prepared earlier in case
something delayed us. Still, we managed to visit the Merrion Square. It was a bit far
from our hotel, but we were still able to get there before lunch time. While on our
way, mom and I bought some sandwiches and juice packets, along with some fruit, so
we could have a picnic in the park. It was peaceful and nice, and we got to feed the
ducks in the lake. We were all a bit sad about having to leave the city after only 3 days,
but we were also starting to get a bit homesick too.
All in all, Dublin was, surprisingly, much better than I initially expected. The
people were very nice, and although the bad weather was a bit annoying, it was all
compensated by the great tourist places we got to visit. The views were beautiful, as
well, and I’m rather sad we didn’t get to try more of their food. Still, it is definitely a
place I would like to revisit!
