Title: SCHOOL CONTINGENCY PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT WRITESHOP

I. SHORT BACKGROUND:

 Philippines is exposed to both natural and human-induced hazards. These include


hydrometeorological hazards such as tropical cyclones which bring flooding and
landslides as secondary hazards, bomb threats, armed conflicts and geological
hazards such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Thus, a comprehensive
contingency plan is a must for the continuity of learning to happen.

II. OBJECTIVES:

This school contingency planning and development writeshop aims to:


a.) Increase understanding about the importance of contingency planning in
mitigating the impact of disasters on pupils, staff, and school facilities and
infrastructure;

b.) Identify potential hazards both natural and human-induced hazards that will
likely occur in the school and community and its effect in the continuity of
education.

c.) To equip school administrators, teaching and non-teaching personnel with the
necessary knowledge and skills to develop effective contingency plans to
effectively prepare, respond and recover from disaster rapidly.

This writeshop will be done basically through discussion, Interactive-lecture


discussions, workshop, structured learning exercise and collaborative activities. This
writeshop is set to craft a Comprehensive Contingency Plan of the School.
