PROJECT PROPOSAL

I. Title:
“BASA, PASA Para sa mga Bata” of Balinsasayao Elementary School,
Abuyog West District, Abuyog, Leyte

II. Rationale:

Project “BASA, PASA Para sa mga Bata” will be undertaken to address

the needs of the identified 12 non-readers from Grades 1 -6 of Balinsasayao
Elementary School. The major activities include profiling of the base line data,
stakeholders participation, teachers effective strategies, provision of reading
materials, monitoring and evaluation on this new normal education.
When the post oral reading test was conducted last school year 2019-
2020 among our 315 learners from Grades 1-6, the results showed that 12 of
them were non-readers. This situation could be very alarming considering that
reading is a major tool in all learning areas. This could certainly affect the
academic performance of the learners, if left unattended. Thus, the teachers
who will involve in the program will be oriented on the effective strategies in the
teaching of remedial reading and preparation of support instructional materials
especially that the school is adapting the new modular learning. Implementing
this project aims to eradicate or improve the reading ability of these learners.
Since reading comprehension is indispensable tool in learning and understanding
other subjects, therefore intervention must be provided to enhance reading
comprehension among learners. On the other hand, this project also allows
building parent-teacher relationship for establishing school-family partnership
that constitutes the foundation for all other forms of family involvement in
education.
