- Describe the functions of the OSI model layers and how they relate to networking.
- Differentiate between various network topologies such as bus, star, mesh, and ring.
- Compare and contrast different cable types (UTP, STP, fiber optics) and connectors (RJ-45, LC,
SC).
- Identify and troubleshoot common physical layer issues like cable faults, termination
problems, and connector mismatches.
- Explain the concepts of IP addressing, subnetting, and CIDR notation.
- Describe the purpose and usage of private and public IP addresses.
- Define IPv6 addressing and understand its advantages over IPv4.
- Explain the basics of TCP and UDP protocols and their differences.
3. IP Connectivity (25%)
- Understand the routing process and how routers make forwarding decisions.
- Configure and verify routing using static routes and default routes.
- Configure and verify single-area OSPFv2 including neighbor discovery and basic OSPF
operations.
- Explain the purpose and features of Routing Information Protocol (RIP).
- Understand the concepts of route aggregation and filtering.
- Describe and configure router redundancy protocols such as HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP.
