New Trier Jazz Fest 2024

Loyola Academy Jazz Band

Details and Schedule

What is it?
The New Trier Jazz Festival is an annual Jazz festival held at New Trier High School that attracts many
high schools throughout the state of Illinois. This festival is highly coveted and registration usually fills up
the day it opens. We are fortunate enough to be able to attend this year!

The festival is designed with the purpose of allowing the second level jazz band or younger jazz bands at
a school attend a festival, work with clinicians, and observe other ensembles, ranging from other high
school programs to some of the greatest professional jazz musicians in the world. It should be an exciting
and educational for our student musicians.

Where is it and how do we get there?

The festival will be held at New Trier High School (Winnetka Campus). Because it is so close to Loyola,
We will not be taking a bus. Please off at the North Entrance of the school on Trevian Way. Attached
is a map of the drop-off locations for busses, which is where you will be dropped off as well.

Call Time
Meet in the North Entrance Lobby NO LATER THAN 7:15am. From there, we will travel together to our
homeroom, where we may drop off our belongings.

Breakfast/Lunch/DInner
Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase at New Trier. We will be attending some events
during both those time slots, but there will be time to stop and get food. You are encouraged to eat
breakfast before arriving at New Trier and you may bring your own lunch if you would like. If you are
purchasing, please bring cash.

Clinics and Performances

Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to attend clinics hosted by some of the biggest
names in jazz education. Some of these are required and some of these are highly recommended.
Because it is such a long day, there is some wiggle room to relax between events, but I highly
encourage you to attend as many events as possible. Some events will ask you to bring an
instrument and some will not. Additionally, schools will be performing throughout the day. You will
receive a schedule of performances and locations. If you are not attending a clinic, consider attending
the performance of another school. There are some incredible groups performing here that you would
not have a chance to see otherwise.
