Case Study: Facebook Faces Fresh Probe After Photo Leak
2-11. Who are Facebook's stakeholders? What are the social responsibilities of the
company? To what level of CSR or CSV is the company adhering at the time of this case?
Facebook comprises internal and external stakeholders. The internal stakeholders are
individuals involved in the institution's running and general operation, including the management
team, board of directors, shareholders, and working employees. External shareholders are people
that influence the institution but are not involved in the inner working of the institution. They
include; government, users, and suppliers. At the time of this case proceedings, Facebook's
primary social responsibility was to ensure user privacy and data confidently. Thus, Facebook
conducts its activities ethically by upholding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). However,
at the time of the case, FB was lowly adhering to CSR.
2-12. No doubt, much will have transpired since the writing of this case regarding
Facebook's privacy challenges. Research and compile an update. What other privacy issues
have arisen in Europe, in the United States, and around the world? What has Mark
Zuckerberg done about it to placate the public and preserve the brand?
Indeed, much has occurred since the case regarding how Facebook responds to privacy
issues, as explained by Bradshaw (2018). The company continues to face numerous instances of
data breaches. In the recent past, Facebook faced a case of selling user information. Soon after, it
was discovered that information belonging to millions of Facebook users was collected with
Cambridge Analytica's consent. Facebook used its subscribers' profiles and invaded their private
data. Mark Zuckerberg has made tremendous efforts to preserve and protect the brand.
Zuckerberg took a step to ask Cambridge Analytica to delete the user data. In 2014, Zuckerberg
also changed Facebook's security policy, saying that the organization would ensure a complete

investigation of applications with user information access. The policy aims to revoke developers'
access to user data whose applications have not been used in three months (Guynn, 2022).
Through such actions, Zuckerberg has enhanced Facebook users' information at least.
2-13. What is your personal opinion about the problems of privacy from using Facebook?
In my time of using Facebook, the institution still has cases to answer and should engage
in better management across borders. This is because the application keeps interfering with a
person's private data despite the security and protection measures set. Facebook has various data
breach violations to answer. The organization is also said to leak users' shared photos, as
explained by Bradshaw (2018). In my experience, Facebook users should be concerned about
their data privacy. Not long ago, I encountered a case where a person successfully gained access
to my Facebook page and changed my primary email. Users should be alert and conscious of
shared page credentials and data. Besides, it is accurate that engaging in the global environment
through practical organizational, interpersonal, and strategic skills will help the company uphold
required business ethics and maintain discipline in reserving users' information (Deresky,
Stewart, and Miller, 2020).
2-14. What regulations or restrictions for Facebook have been put in place in Europe and
the United States? Do you agree with them?
Facebook has set up regulations aimed at solving the issue of privacy. In Europe, the Irish
Data Protection Commission initiated investigations on Facebook to ensure no user is data
without consent. It is also required that Facebook complies and adheres to the EU's General Data
Protection Regulation (GDPR). Europe and the United States take note of GDPR meant to
protect users from any cases of privacy breaches (Bradshaw, 2018). I am afraid I have to disagree
with these regulations since data breaches continue to exist despite their existence. Thus, I cannot

entirely agree with the regulations since privacy continues to be a significant issue in using
Facebook.
