Complexometry

This document describes the titration of strontium ions (Sr2+) with EDTA. 1) It derives the titration curve by calculating the pSr values after adding various volumes of EDTA from 0 to 30 mL. 2) The pSr is 2.0 initially when no EDTA is added and decreases to a minimum of 5.37 at the equivalence point of 25 mL EDTA. 3) Beyond the equivalence point, the pSr increases again as the EDTA concentration exceeds that of Sr2+.

0.3284 gram Brass sample (containing Pb, Zn, Cu, Sn) dissolved in HNO3 SnO2.4H2O was removed by filtration, filtrate was diluted to 500 mL 10 mL aliq + buffer, for titration of (Pb, Zn, Cu) required 37.56 mL (0.0025 M) EDTA In a 25 mL aliquot, Cu was masked w/ thiosulfate, then Pb and Zn were titrated with 27.67 mL EDTA.
