Mobile phone jammer :

 A mobile phone jammer is a device used to prevent

cellular phones from receiving signals from base
stations.
 Jamming devices overpower the cell phones by
transmitting a signal on the same frequency and at high
enough power that the two signals collide and cancel
each other out.
 Mobile phone jammer block cell phone use by sending
out radio waves along the same frequencies that
Mobile phones use.so mobile phone would simply
appear out of range.
 Most Mobile phones use different bands to send and
receive communications from towers. Jammers can work
by either disrupting phone to tower frequencies or tower
to phone frequencies.

 Mobile jammer operates in the

900 MHz and 1800 MHz
bands in Europe and Asia and
in the 1900 MHz in the US.
 The actual range of the
jammer depends on its power
and the local environment
which include hills and
buildings.
 Smaller handheld Mobile jammer block all bands within a
30-foot range (9 meters).
 The radius of cell phone jammers can range from a dozen
feet for pocket models to kilometers for more dedicated
units.
 The TRJ-89 jammer can block cellular communications
for a 5-mile (8 km) radius.
 Less energy is required to disrupt signal from tower to
mobile phone, than the signal from mobile phone to the
tower (also called base station), because the base station
is located at larger distance from the jammer than the
mobile phone and that is why the signal from the tower is
not as strong.
 Older jammers sometimes were limited to working on
phones using only analog or older digital mobile phone
standards.
 Newer models such as the double and triple band
jammers can block all widely used systems
(CDMA, GSM, etc) and are even very effective against
newer phones.
 A cell phone works by communicating with its service
network through a cell tower or base station.
 Cell towers divide a city into small areas, or cells. As a
cell-phone user drives down the street, the signal is
handed from tower to tower.
Inside the Jammer:
The main electronic components of a jammer
are:
• Voltage-controlled oscillator – Generates
the radio signal that will interfere with the
cell phone signal.
• Tuning circuit - Controls the frequency at
which the jammer broadcasts its signal by
sending a particular voltage to the oscillator.
• Noise generator - Produces random
electronic output in a specified frequency
range to jam the cell-phone network signal
(part of the tuning circuit)
• RF amplification (gain stage) - Boosts the
• Power supply
Smaller jamming devices are battery operated.
Some look like cell phone and use cell-phone
batteries. Stronger devices can be plugged into a
standard outlet or wired into a vehicle's electrical
system.
• Antena
Every jamming device has an antenna to send
the signal. Some are contained within an
electrical cabinet. On stronger devices, antennas
are external to provide longer range and may be
tuned for individual frequencies. Some devices
can store the frequencies that they have jammed
to prevent later tuning necessary in repeated use
Outlook of jammer :
THE RISKS AND LEGALITY OF JAMMING

Since these mobile jammers may or may not be legal to

possess or operate based on the specific laws of the area.

 Australia: illegal to operate, supply or possess.

 Brazil: illegal, but installation in jails have been proposed.
 Canada: illegal, except by federal law-enforcement
agencies who have obtained approval.
 France: France legalized cell-phone jammers in theaters
and other places. Still legally used inside jails.
 Japan: illegal to use, but legal to own. Use of fixed high
output jammers with long range is illegal, with fines of up
to max $250,000USD and/or 5 years in prison.
 India: legal, Government, Religious Places, Prisons and
Educational Institutions use jammers.
 Mobile jammers can be used in practically any
location, but are used in places where a phone call
would be particularly disruptive like
Temples, Libraries, Hospitals, Cinema halls, schools &
colleges etc.

 Remember jammers are mainly used for military or

Government use.
Application of Mobile jammer :
 Mobile Jammers were
originally developed for
law enforcement and the
military to interrupt
communications by
criminals and terrorists to
foil the use of certain
remotely detonated
explosives.
 The US military routinely uses jammers to protect secure
military areas from electronic surveillance. Jammers can
also be used to protect traveling convoys from cell phone
triggered roadside bombs in places.
 jammer can also be used by criminals who break into
homes and want to prevent any calls for help.

 However, jammers can also be used for good.

 Spanish terrorists used cell phone triggered bombs in the

2004 Madrid train bombings. Just think, someone using a
cell phone jammer who was only trying to protect
themselves from a mobile blabbermouth could have
prevented the bombing and saved hundreds of lives.
 In most jails, libraries and university classrooms
jammers are already in use
 Mobile jammer also used in the company
meeting, churches, movie theaters to prevent any
disturbance by the mobile.
