Music Video Parody
Guidelines
1. The Music Video Parody is a competition to all Grade 12 students as part of the
performance task in Media and Information Literacy subject.
2. Each section will produce a One (1) Music Video Parody that promotes their STRAND.
3. The duration of the MVP must have a total running time of three (3) minutes, including
the opening and closing credits in MP4 format.
4. Pick a song that is widely recognized. The more familiar the original song, the more
relatable your parody will be,
5. Make sure the song’s theme or genre aligns with the message you want to convey in your
parody.
6. Write your parody lyrics. Focus on a specific topic, theme, or story for your parody. The
lyrics should fit the rhythm and syllable count of the original song.
7. Be creative and funny. Exaggerate ideas and include punchlines to keep it entertaining.
8. Ensure the lyrics are appropriate for your target audience – avoid offensive language and
sensitive topics unless your goal is to address them thoughtfully.
9. Use a camera or smartphone with a decent resolution to ensure clear footage. Format of
the video should be in Landscape position.
10. Gather any props, costumes, or accessories to make scenes fun and memorable. Even
small items can add a lot to the visuals.

12. You can use Bandlab Application to record your song lyrics and karaoke or instrumental
version of the song as background music. Make sure it’s royalty-free when posting the
parody online.
13. Use video editing software like capcut, filmora, adobe premiere pro, etc. to cut scenes,
add effects, and sync the visuals with your lyrics.
14. Include subtitles or captions as they can help viewers follow the lyrics.
15. Consider adding a few special effects, transitions, or filters to enhance the comedic
elements.
16. Ensure the timing, audio quality, and humor all come through.
17. Deadline of submission will be on December 13, 2024.
