Restoring a System Image to the New Drive
If you're using a system image (which is essentially a snapshot of your entire OS
and files) and want to restore it to a new, blank drive:
You don’t need to install a fresh operating system first.
The system image contains everything you need, including the OS, apps, settings,
and files.
Steps for Restoring a System Image:
Create a system image of your old PC (using Windows built-in tools or third-party
software).
Prepare a bootable USB or recovery disk: To restore the system image, you’ll need a
bootable USB stick or recovery disk. You can create this in advance (for example,
using the Windows Media Creation Tool).
Boot from the recovery media: Insert the bootable USB or recovery disk into the new
PC.
Restore the system image: From the recovery environment, choose the option to
restore from a system image and select the system image file. The restoration will
copy everything from the image onto the new drive, making it bootable.
