Visual Design

 Visual design is all about making things look good

and easy to understand.
 It uses colors, typography, images, and layout to
communicate messages effectively.
 As one of the most important fields in digital design,
visual design focuses on aesthetics and functionality,
making websites, apps, and advertisements more
engaging.
What is Visual Design in UX Design?

 Visual design in UX design focuses on making digital

products like websites and apps look good and easy to
use.
 It combines colors, fonts, shapes, and images to create
attractive interfaces that enhance the user experience.
 The goal is to communicate information clearly and
guide users smoothly through the product, while also
ensuring a visually appealing layout.
 In UX design, strong visual design helps engage users,
improves usability, and makes navigating the website or
app more enjoyable and efficient.
Elements Of Visual Design

 Lines : A line is formed after connecting 2 points.

These lines are used to create shapes, make
partitions, etc.
 Shapes: Different lines are used to create enclosed
areas that are used to make content boxes and other
elements in a design.
 Contrast: Contrast is used to make specific content
stand out against the others.
 Texture: They are the patterns and designs that are
present on an interface to make it look more
appealing.
Elements Of Visual Design

 White Space / Negative Space: White space means

empty space between other elements of page, We use
white space after elements.
 Colors: Colors are an integral part of an interface
design. Colors help define the content by giving the
interface meaning, which helps the brands to promote
their service or product better.
 Typography: Using appropriate fonts is very necessary
as text is the major way of an interface to convey a
message. Choosing specific fonts, their size, colors,
alignment and spacings all comes under typography.
Examples of Visual Design

 Website Design: Clean, user-friendly layouts with

consistent color schemes, typography, and imagery
that align with the brand’s identity.
 Digital Ads and Banners: Eye-catching designs
that convey key messages quickly, using bold visuals,
minimal text, and a clear call to action.
 Info graphics: Visually organized data with icons,
illustrations, and a clear hierarchy to make complex
information easily understandable.
Typography

• Typography is the
discipline designers use to
arrange typefaces in a user
interface to ensure text is
legible, readable, and
scalable.
• It involves choosing
typefaces and fonts,
designing text layouts, and
modifying font styles to
enhance readability and
visual appeal.
What are Key Elements of Typography?

 Fonts and Typefaces: Fonts are specific weights

within a typeface. You choose a typeface; you use a font. If
you were to select Arial as your typeface, then Arial bold,
italic and regular would be your fonts.
 Font Weight, Height, and Size : These aspects of
typography contribute to uniformity in the text. When you
make them consistent across your website or app, you
maintain your brand’s identity and enhance readability.
 Character : This is an individual element—commonly a
single letter, number or punctuation mark.
 Stroke : This is a straight or curved line that creates the
principal part of a letter.
 Serif:Serif fonts are often more readable, as the tiny
“feet” guide the readers’ eyes to the next character.
 Sans serif : This is a typeface without strokes or
any extra elements at the bottom of a letter. Due to
the lower resolution of screens, sans serifs are often
preferable for digital interfaces.
 Alignment: This is how text is positioned. There
are 4 main alignments: left, right, centered and
justified. Alignment helps designers to create a
coherent composition.
