Ans : The Internet is a vast network that connects computers all over the
world.

Internet Evolution

Ans : The concept of Internet was originated in 1969 and has undergone
several technological & Infrastructural changes as discussed below:

1. The origin of Internet devised from the concept of Advanced Research


Project Agency Network (ARPANET).
2. ARPANET was developed by United States Department of Defense.
3. Basic purpose of ARPANET was to provide communication among the
various bodies of government.
4. Initially, there were only four nodes, formally called Hosts.
5. In 1972, the ARPANET spread over the globe with 23 nodes located at
different countries and thus became known as Internet.
Internet Advantages
Ans : The internet has many advantages, including:
1. Communication: The internet allows people to communicate
remotely with anyone, regardless of their physical location.
2. Access to information: The internet provides a vast amount of
information on almost any topic, and it's possible to find answers in
seconds.
3. Reliability: A reliable internet connection is important for many
uses, such as remote work, distance learning, and streaming video.
4. Socializing: The internet can help people make new friends.
5. Improved medical care: The internet has improved medical care.
6. Economic growth: The internet has contributed to economic growth.

Internet Disadvantages

Ans : The internet has several disadvantages, including:

1. Privacy : The internet can be a major source of privacy invasion, with


users sharing personal information that can lead to identity theft.
2. Cybercrime : Cybercriminals can create and launch cybercrimes to
target internet users, including hacking, phishing, and identity theft.
3. Addiction : People can become addicted to using the internet,
especially teenagers who may spend more time online than in real life.
4. Mental health : Problematic internet use can lead to mental health
issues such as stress and depression.
5. Misinformation : The spread of fake news, propaganda, and unverified
data can misguide users.
6. Cyberbullying : Bullying that takes place on social networking sites is
called cyberbullying.
