The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) is committed to protecting your privacy and
maintaining the security of any personal information you provide to us, in accordance with principles
laid out in the relevant UK legislation (in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
and the Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018).
In order to process your application, we collect process and store personal data from you, for
example name, contact details, address(es), passport number, ‘International Training Fellow’ salary,
etc. We use this data to process your application and, should you be successful, to manage your
participation on the Scheme. If you are unsuccessful, we retain only your name, and a record of the
outcome of your participation. If you are successful, we retain your personal data for the duration of
your time in post; at the end of that period, we will retain a minimised version of your details for
historical purposes.
We may correspond with you regarding your application and any subsequent
fellowship/membership via email, telephone or in writing.
We will not sell your personal details to any third party.
If your application is unsuccessful, we will not share your details with third parties.
If your application is accepted, we will share necessary, relevant details with your Employing NHS
Trust/Health Board, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AoMRC) and UK Visas and Immigration
(UKVI). The information will be shared with the sole purpose of progressing the applicant’s
International Postgraduate Deanery application and, in the case of UKVI, with the production of a
Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
