mean businesses can get shared which brings the business
more publicity, but this could be good or bad publicity, so the
business needs to be careful. Whereas snapchat only lets you
tag friends and people you follow.
DIFFERENT CONTENT FORMATS
Business can use social media to post different content formats such as pictures of
products, written news or a video of the company or products.

their Facebook and YouTube

SOCIAL MEDIA TARGET AUDIENCE (AGE)
Statistics From Social Media Demographics: The Definitive Guide in 2024 (luisazhou.com)

Logo Social Age Age Age Age Age

Media 18 - 24 25 - 34 35 - 44 45 - 54 55+
Facebook 22% 31% 18% 11% 13%
YouTube 34% 33% 15% 3%
Twitter / X 17% 39% 35 – 49 (21%) 50+ (17%)
Instagram 30% 32% 16% 8% 6%
TikTok 42% 31% 13% 7% 4%
Snapchat 39% N/A N/A N/A N/A
OVERVIEW OF SOCIAL MEDIA TARGET AUDIENCE
(AGE)
Choosing which social media site to advertise on depends mainly on the age
demographic of the organization target audience.
If the target audience is aged 30+ then I would be advertising on Facebook, Twitter/X
and even YouTube would work better than snapchat, TikTok or Instagram as these
aren't used as much by the target audience so it would be a waste of money and
resource to advitise on these social media sites.

However, if the target audience is 18 – 20-year-olds U would then using snapchat,

TikTok or Instagram would get the organization seen products seen more by the target
audience.
SOCIAL MEDIA TARGET AUDIENCE (GENDER)
Statistics From Social Media Demographics: The Definitive Guide in 2024 (luisazhou.com)

Logo Social Media Female Users Male Users

Facebook 43% 57%
YouTube 46% 54%
Twitter / X 44% 56%
Instagram 49% 51%
TikTok 57% 43%
Snapchat 53% 46%
OVERVIEW OF SOCIAL MEDIA TARGET AUDIENCE
(GENDER)
Choosing a social media platform to advertise on for gender isn't as complicated as
age as the percentages between female users and male users are closer on all the
platforms researched then with age.

However, if the product or business is geared more towards female, I believe that
business should defiantly advertise on Snapchat and TikTok as these are the only two
with more female users than male users.
SOCIAL MEDIA TARGET AUDIENCE (INCOME: DOLLARS)
Statistics From Social Media Demographics: The Definitive Guide in 2024 (luisazhou.com)

TikTok 22% 29% 40% N/A
Snapchat 25% 27% 29% 38%
OVERVIEW OF SOCIAL MEDIA TARGET AUDIENCE
(INCOME: DOLLARS)
Researching what income bracket uses social media more shows that across all 6
platforms people that make $75,000+ uses social media more than these who
make $30,000 or less.

However, the research does show that no matter which income group the business
needs to target in my option the best social media sites for both the lower and higher
income brackets are YouTube or Facebook.

AUDIENCE IS IMPORTANT
FOR A BUSINESS
Using social media to developing an audience
is important for a business because "The

With the evidence I can confirm that it's better

to have loyal customers than focus on getting

BUSINESS • Talk to customers

• Promote Events
CAN USE • Build Loyalty
• Increase brand awareness
SOCIAL • Market Research

MEDIA • Contact Influencers
• Targeted Adverts
ADVERTISE PRODUCTS
There are mulipule ways to advertise products on social media such as making an account for the
business and posting about products. Another way to advertise on social media is paying for
advertisements to appear on the social media plateform.

Example – Facebook (The picture on the right is a

sponsored add that come up on the home Page
and above is the company's Facebook page.)
REACH PEOPLE WORLDWIDE
Having the business join social
media platforms will greatly
increase its reach as in every
country there is access to
social media with a lot of
people spending time on them
every day even it only to
quickly check up on what is
going on.
INTERACT WITH CUSTOMERS
Social media is a good way for business to contact and interact with the public by replying to
comments and liking posts made by customers about the product and/or organization. This interaction
can help build loyalty between the business and customers.

Example – YouTube (The

ASOS company interacted

PROMOTE EVENTS
TARGETED ADVERTS
Social media is a great way for business to do target advertisement which means that if the product is
for men specifically then it would appear to user who are listed as male. This can work for age and
information about what users have searched for.

Example – Instagram (This

was an advertisement that
was target to my friend
because of her age.)

Example – YouTube (This is a

Overview
PROBLEMS • Takes Time

OF USING • Qualified Person

• May need Investments

SOCIAL • Creative (Not repetitive)

• Bad Publicity

MEDIA • Problems More Visible

• Trolls
IN BUSINESS • Exposure To Competitors
• Privacy Issues
• Security Issues
CREATIVITY (NOT REPETITIVE)
One of the difficulties with social media in business is keeping it updated and interesting because if its
repetitive users won't subscribe or follow the businesses social media account.

Example – Facebook (This is examples of a post from an organization that use the
same layout which is title and then text which is neat and organize but as a view I find
the repetitive layout boring so can't focus on the text to read it.
TIME AND INVESTMENT
Social media is a good
platform for business
however, it takes time to
maintain and run the social
media account and means the
company may have to invest
in hiring a qualified person to
run their social media.
BAD PUBLICITY (FAUX PAS)
The risk of business using social media is that once they post something it's out there so if they post
something that can be taken in a bad way it will get a lot of attention.

Example – KFC (to promote the hot and

spicy nature of their fried chicken they
posted this innuendo which backlash Example – Razer (This Business was
caused KFC to delete the post after an promoting their new laptop with focus
hour of it being uploaded. on it having SD slots but the backlash
from this posted forced the company to
delete it and apologize.
Example – Instagram (This
shows someone leaving a
negative comment about the
product.)

Example – YouTube (The is a

user commenting about the
company "Shien" negatively and
publicly)

TROLLS
PRIVACY AND SECURITY ISSUES
▪ Impersonation – The is the risk that someone will make a social media account pretending to
be a business to either negatively represent the company or talk to client asking for data and
information.

Example – Instagram (this is somebody

using Tesco Mobile as their username
when clearly, they are not the business so
people looking though quickly could
message them not relising they aren’t
Tesco mobile.)

▪ Hackers - Using social media bring the risk of it being hacked for client's or company personal
information. Another thing is taking control of the business social media to spread false information,
talking bad about the business or contacting clients.
1. In conclusion I believe that it’s a good idea for business
to use social media to reach more people and expand
their business.
2. However, the company shouldn't ignore the
potential risk and issues such as hackers and bad
publicity which is more in the public eye if the business
has social media.
3. Business can do action to minimis the risks such as get

CONCLUSION
extra security so that hackers will find it harder to get
into the company's accounts.
4. Another way to minimis risks it to hire someone with
the skills and qualification to handle the social media
account for the company which will cost money but in
the long run will be very beneficial for the business.
5. The final summery is that I think that the benefits of
using social media in the business out way the
drawbacks if the company does everything it can to
minimis the risks and issues
