ACTIVITY#_____
“Light as Rays”
OBJECTIVES: Compare the Angle of Incident and the Angle of Reflection
MATERIAL:
Plane Mirror
Laser pointers
Protractor
PROCEDUCES:
a. Put your mirror carefully on the line labelled “mirror.
b. Point your laser along incident ray line.
c. Mark the reflected ray line that represent where the light ray goes after hitting the
mirror.
d. Measure the angles between the normal line and incident ray. (Normal line is an
imaginary line that is perpendicular to the surface.) Record this in the table. Then
measure the angle between the reflected ray and the normal line. Put this result in
the table too.
e. Repeat the procedure with all the other incident ray lines.

MIRROR LEFT-RIGHT REVERSAL
Objectives:
a. Describe the images formed by plane mirror.
b. Show an understanding of reversal effect in mirrors by writing
laterally inverted letters and words.
Materials:
Alphabet chart (capital letters)
1 plane mirror
Procedure:
1. Place the alphabet chart in front of the plane mirror. Identify all capital
letters in the alphabet that can be read properly in front of the mirror.
2. Write at least 3 words (all in capital letters) that can be read properly both
with mirror and without a mirror in front of it.
Guide Questions:
1. What are the letters of the alphabet (in capital) that can be read
properly in front of a mirror?
2. Think of words (in capital letters) that can be read properly both with a
mirror and without a mirror. What are these words?
3. Why can’t you read most of the words properly in front of the mirror?
