Feast day of Blessed Carlo Acutis
Good day dear sisters and brothers in Christ and welcome to our Eucharistic
Celebration!
Today, we commemorate the feast day of Blessed Carlo Acutis.

Blessed Carlo was born in London and raised in Milan by wealthy non-religious
parents. After receiving his first communion at a young age, he became a devoted
communicant, praying before the tabernacle before or after Mass. He looked up to
saints like Francis of Assisi and Bernadette Soubirous. At school, Carlo supported
friends dealing with family issues and defended disabled students from bullies. He
volunteered with the homeless and created a website cataloging Eucharistic
miracles. He enjoyed films, comics, soccer, and video games. Diagnosed with
leukemia, Carlo offered his suffering for the intentions of Pope Benedict XVI and
the Church, but his dream of visiting Eucharistic miracle sites was cut short. He
passed away and was later beatified.

In our readings for today we hear Abraham, our Father in the faith, was a man who
lived according to the gospel before Jesus proclaimed his Good News. Reflecting
on the life of blessed Carlo Acutis and Abraham, we see profound examples of
faith and trust in God. Carlo lived to respond generously to God’s grace, mirroring
Abraham’s unwavering trust in God’s promise, despite not witnessing its
fulfillment. In contrast, many during Jesus' time questioned His signs, failing to
recognize God's care even amidst miracles.

This challenges us to examine our own attitudes toward God's presence in our
lives. Are we open to recognizing His blessings, or do we overlook them like the
doubters of Jesus’ time? Both Blessed Carlo and Abraham inspire us to cultivate a
faith rooted in trust and service, encouraging us to act with love and gratitude, and
to focus on living our faith authentically without demanding proof.

With reverend Fr. Elorm Donatus Kwame Akpatsa, SVD as our presider. Let us all
stand and actively participate in the singing and in the responses.

Gal 3:7-14
A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Galatians

Brothers and sisters:

Realize that it is those who have faith
who are children of Abraham.
Scripture, which saw in advance that God
would justify the Gentiles by faith,
foretold the good news to Abraham, saying,
Through you shall all the nations be blessed.
Consequently, those who have faith are blessed
along with Abraham who had faith.
For all who depend on works of the law are under a curse;
for it is written, Cursed be everyone
who does not persevere in doing all the things
written in the book of the law.
And that no one is justified before God by the law is clear,
for the one who is righteous by faith will live.
But the law does not depend on faith;
rather, the one who does these things will live by them.
Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for
us,
for it is written, Cursed be everyone who hangs on a tree,
that the blessing of Abraham might be extended
to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus,
so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
The word of the Lord
Responsorial Psalm
Ps 111:1b-2, 3-4, 5-6

℟. (5) The Lord will remember his covenant for ever.

I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart

in the company and assembly of the just.
Great are the works of the LORD,
exquisite in all their delights.

℟. The Lord will remember his covenant for ever.

Majesty and glory are his work,

and his justice endures forever.
He has won renown for his wondrous deeds;
gracious and merciful is the LORD.

℟. The Lord will remember his covenant for ever.

He has given food to those who fear him;

he will forever be mindful of his covenant.
He has made known to his people the power of his works,
giving them the inheritance of the nations.

℟. The Lord will remember his covenant for ever.

the name of Christ. Let us pray to the Lord.

3. That we may give wholehearted support in upholding the truth and in

opposing the subtle influences of evil. Let us pray to the Lord.

PRAYER TO BLESSED CARLO ACUTIS
O God our Father,
we thank you for giving us Carlo,
a model of life for young people,
and a message of love for all.
You made him fall in love with your son Jesus,
making the Eucharist his “highway to heaven.”
You gave him Mary as a beloved mother,
and you made him, through the Rosary,
a cantor of her tenderness.
Receive his prayer for us.
Look above all upon the poor, whom he loved and assisted.
Grant me too, through his intercession, the grace
that I need (mention your intention Silently).
And make our joy full, raising Carlo among
the saints of your Church,
so that his smile shines again for us
to the glory of your name. Amen.
