Oman.
Asset Description:
Sur IPP is a 2000 MW CCGT power plant. The Plant includes three power blocks, two of them comprising two gas turbines, one
steam turbine and three generators and the third block being a one on one configuration with one Gas Turbine, one Steam
Turbine and the corresponding generators. The gas turbines are the latest Siemens SGT4000F (94.3A) gas turbines. The Steam
Turbines are Fuji Electric Systems condensing steam turbines and the HRSGs are triple pressure (with reheat) supplementary

Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Shift Charge Engineer and ultimately to the Operations Manager .The Control Room Engineer will be
responsible for plant operations within the Operations Shift Team to ensure the plant meets the required availability,
reliability, efficiency, generation and cost targets, safely and within strict environmental limits. This will include regular
equipment start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers and regular operation / monitoring, as well as responding to alarms and
emergency conditions and initiating troubleshooting. The role will require a detailed understanding and practical experience of
the technologies associated to operating a modern Gas Turbine plant, and a wide range of auxiliary equipment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work :
This is a full-time position. Standard hours of work are Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 17:00. This position requires
flexibility and weekend or out of normal hours work may be required with reasonable notice. This is required as Sur IPP is a
business that operates 24 hours a day all of the time. His normal duty will be in shifts assigned by Operation Manager.
Travel :
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Core Competencies:
1. Thorough understanding of modern CCGT plant.
2. Good foundation and practical knowledge of power plant operations including electrical systems.
3. Power plant engineering concepts
4. Ability to operate the plant efficiently within a varying range of load conditions
5. Ability to supervise and coordinate with field operators (including standing-in for field operators as required)
6. Ability to give accurate feedback to maintenance personnel on equipment problems
7. Ability to control incidents in a range of situations
8. Ability to coordinate with gas and fuel suppliers as well as with the grid operator.
9. Strong understanding of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment management systems and safety rules.
10. Good command of the English language and Computer literacy

Key Responsibilities:
1. Safe and efficient delivery of high levels of commercial availability within environment limits
2. Effective liaison with rest of the shift and SCE over plant operational issues
3. Effective liaison with maintenance departments and personnel to ensure that faults are identified and fixed safely, quickly
and correctly, and that equipment is appropriately tested before being put back into service
4. Make decisions, or assist others to make decisions, to resolve plant operational problems with immediate, medium and
long term consequences
5. Be an active part of the shift and help it to meet appropriate people and plant related performance measures
6. Ensure Company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures are implemented and carried out.
7. Participate in internal / external Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental audits and monitor relevant findings
8. Help ensure that all procedures, documentation, drawings and manuals are kept up to date and necessary training is
completed in a timely manner
9. Develop Operating procedures as required for the safe plant operations.
10. Implement the PFW procedures in a safe manner.
11. Participate in suitable training programs, both for individual development and operational competence, and help to
develop knowledge and experience in subordinates
12. Continues improvement in the process of work.
13. Any other tasks that may be required.

Education
1. A degree in Electrical, C&I or Mechanical Engineering (or) Industrial, military, marine or utility training in power generation
(or) Accredited Engineering Diploma will be suitable if accompanied by the relevant experience.
Experience:
2. Multiple years of experience in power stations.
3. Experience preferred in CCGT, Gas Turbines and a wide range of auxiliary equipment.
4. Experience with Siemens Vx4.3A gas turbines would be a particular advantage.
5. Experience of setting-up and / or mobilising an O&M company in the field of power would be an advantage.
6. Experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
7. Commercial awareness and PPA/PWPA knowledge.
