Canada Child Tax Benefit & National Child Benefit Supplement
Non-Employment Insurance Learners
You may already be receiving the monthly Canada Child Tax Benefit from Canada Revenue
Agency. The Canada Child Tax Benefit includes the National Child Benefit Supplement
(NCBS) and is provided to assist with the costs of raising children under 18 years of age.
When calculating your eligibility for financial assistance as a Learner, the Government takes
into consideration that you are already receiving the maximum NCBS entitlement.
To ensure that you are receiving the maximum NCBS, compare amounts listed in your 2015
Canada Child Tax Notice against the maximum monthly NCBS rates for 2015 (listed below).

If You Are Not Receiving the Maximum NCBS,
You Are Eligible For More Money
You may be eligible for non-repayable benefits up to the maximum NCBS value if:
• You are not receiving NCBS payments due to your immigration status, or
• Your income from the previous year was too high to qualify for full NCBS payments.
You may be eligible for a repayable benefit if:
• You have not filed your income tax return, or
• You have not yet reported the addition of a child to your household, or
• You have recently separated from your spouse/partner.
If you believe that you may qualify for one of these benefits, or do not know the amount of the
NCBS that you are receiving, contact the Learner Income Support Office:
• In Edmonton at 780-427-3722
• Toll free in Alberta at 1-800-222-6485
If you have a debt to the Canada Revenue Agency, this may affect your eligibility for these
benefits.
