Grant: Hey Marian, I can’t believe how much I’ve been thinking about this experiment with our
mobile phones!
Marian: I know! It’s fascinating. The goal was to see when teenagers use their phones the most,
right?
Grant: Exactly! I thought it would be awful, but honestly, my experience wasn’t as bad as I imagined it
would be.
Marian: Really? I had a tough time at first. During the week, I started to imagine all sorts of things,
feeling disconnected from everyone.
Grant: That sounds rough. I felt a bit isolated too, especially when I couldn’t reach out to friends.
Marian: Yeah, I felt that isolation deeply. But you know, my friends started to get a bit frustrated with
my attitude.
Grant: I can see why! It can be tough to adjust. Did your feelings change at all as the week went on?
Marian: Definitely. By the end, I noticed my reaction changed. I started to feel more connected again,
even without my phone.
Grant: That’s great to hear! It’s interesting how we can adapt over time.
Presenter: In this experiment, the aim was to find out how much teenagers relied on their mobile
phones.
Narrator: The teenagers had to try living without their mobiles for one whole week.
Grant: I found it really tough! During the night, I thought I heard my mobile ringing.
Marian: At first, the beginning of the week was difficult for me, but by the middle of the week, I
wasn’t missing texting or calling my friends at all.
