Database is a organized collection of data that is easily accessed, managed and

updated
Database is used to store data in an organized fashion. here it is stored as row
and column. the software used to manage this data is called DBMS. This sw allows us
to define, manage, manipulate and retreive the data. Later we had RDBMS, which
stores data with well defined relationship within each entity.
DBA need to do following
Installation, configuration, upgrade and Migration
Backup and Recovery
Database Security
Storage and Capacity planning
Performance monitoring and tuning
Troubleshooting, look at trace files, alert files and see what is happening
High availability (replicated in standby db)
