Class Rules

1. Please do not put your head down in class. Please do not talk on your phone in class.

Please do not talk in class when I or another student is talking.

2. Failure to follow the above rules will be addressed with a gentle reminder. If the

behavior continues after the gentle reminder, a warning will be issued. If the behavior

continues after the warning, you will not earn class participation points for the class in

which the behavior occurs. If the behavior continues after this, the program manager will

be contacted for assistance.

3. Attendance will be taken once at the beginning of class. If you are not here to sign in

then you will be marked absent. There are no exceptions to this.

4. If a student is absent from the midterm exam or receives a zero for his class performance

score, the student will not be able to take the final exam. This will likely result in the

student not receiving credit for this course.

5. Freedom of speech includes the right not to speak. This is a speaking class so as long as

you are in this class you are expected to speak. However, if you feel too nervous to speak

you can leave class for the day. If you do this once or twice it is not a big deal, but if you

do this repeatedly it will affect your class participation score simply because I have to

honestly assess your class participation.
